I really can’t stand using MAME.I couldn’t dial in the controls at all or assign paddle movement to my controller d-pad. Is this a trackball game? It does look fun; I might give the PS1 version a try.
Yeah, I couldn’t get this working with a mouse well in either Retroarch (FBneo) or MAME.
It plays nice with a normal dpad though, but you need to set the controls in the test menu.
Here’s the detail from the notes on the site: In MAME, once game starts press F2 to enter service menu, go into configuration and change controls to JOYSTICK. See screenshots below. Use A and START in menu.
Thanks to @Suteneko for figuring this out.

It is because the game was designed around a paddle/spinner. The PS1 port even came bundled with one so I dont think that will help much either.
For joystick controls you have to go into the games service menu as I have already advised.

We do need more participation from the RGB folks, would love to get some more entries going.
@PassiveObserver let me know if you need any more help with setting this up, it’s pretty simple to do though.
I’ve got the d-pad set up, thanks! It plays much better now. I’ll definitely be putting some time into the game for the next couple weeks and try to get at least one good run in there.
