Yeah, the game looks rather basic, so I guess the Mega Drive wasn’t exactly pushed to its limits.

Also, the Mega Drive version and PC Engine version seem to be nearly identical.

Sega Mega Drive:

PC Engine:
 ![](https://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/466017-super-volley-ball-turbografx-16-screenshot-first-set.png)

I don’t know which version is superior gameplay-wise though, but perhaps a future Battle of the Ports video can shine a light on that 😉

Hang on, thanks to your comment I just discovered that the screenshot I used from [UVlist.net](http://UVlist.net) (Universal Videogame List) is supposedly from the arcade version, while in actuality it seems to be a Mega Drive screenshot!

Here’s an actual arcade screenshot:

Still looks bland, though.

This was also on the SNES as _Hyper V-Ball_, which was the version I played. It’s a somewhat slow and steady game, more like Wii Tennis than fast and frantic like Windjammers.

SNES version has robot teams in it with crazy gameplay changes to spice things up a bit, and a bunch of special moves - I seem to remember lightning!? Can’t speak for the other versions.

Yeah, and Power Spikes II is its sequel, right? Never played that one, though. It’s one of the few ACA Neo Geo titles I haven’t purchased, heh heh.

It does indeed, but there’s something to the game that still makes it pretty addictive today.
In some ways, I actually prefer SV to its sequel.

Today I was wondering if the full list of games featured on Atari’s 50th Anniversary Collection had been revealed yet, so I did a quick Google search. I didn’t expect to find any answers, but I’m glad to say I was wrong!

Some Dutch gameshop posted the full list on their website:

Akka Arrh seems to be an unreleased prototype. Interesting.

Also, I didn’t expect I, Robot to be featured on this collection. Pretty cool!

Not many surprises among the Atari 2600 titles. Basic Math? Ugh!

I’m mostly excited about the Jaguar and Atari 800 games. Never played those.

And here’s a video for everyone who’s wondering what the hell Atari’s “Touch Me” is:

I hope they either lock T2K to a fixed frame rate, or somehow allow it to run at 60fps.

Regardless, I’m looking forward to playing it again.

What a lovely surprise! Good to know someone at Inin/United Games/Strictly Limited has opened conversations with Mitchell. Hopefully they can acquire the licenses for more of their back catalogue.

Shame the article is basically based off a tweet - Konami aren’t involved with this release. They typical share their TGS booth with other publishers, of which one is Inin. Traditionally all Falcom games at TGS have been at the Konami booth, for instance.

Yeah, I also thought the mention of Konami sounded rather iffy. Usually I try to include the names of publishers in my posts about retro re-releases, but this time I refrained from that and just posted a link to the article instead.

Still, great news all the same that this arcade gem is finally heading to consoles!
