And so began the Game Collection App Wars of 2023.
mannnn i wish there’d been a standard here, like discogs is for vinyl - i spent forever logging everything for that RF generation link i posted a while back here, no way i’m switching over unless something else somehow imports all that data i’ve put in over the years
i’d be curios about pricesharting but i don’t trust their #s either way, RF generation is simple but it’s only with brand new games that i don’t see stuff show up in their database (or weird stuff, like i still can’t log my ps4 final fantasy collection)
This continues to be my favorite option - and it’s 100% free with no ads!
I exported from RF and imported into GAMEYE
Their app isn’t great, though
Price Charting is pretty much what all the retailers are using to gauge value nowadays. They have a retailer tier that I know I’ve seen independent stores use.
oh if there’s a straight export option, that one’s worth looking into. have you seen RF’s app? it’s fairly barebeons, curious what you think of the specifics of gameye
you’re not wrong, ive seen many a shop “recalculate” prices at the register with that shit. i know ebay sold items isn’t as easy a search, but ughhhhh
(i am remotely curious what my collection would go for on that app though)
You can easily import it on Price Charting if you can export it from the other place. Text of various forms work IIRC. It’ll give you the immediate amount of all the stuff it knows.
I’ve only had some issues with Neo games from Japan. Imports are a little hit and miss. Everything US should come up aces tho.
Also, PC seems to be friendly to input from large collection holders like us.
I haven’t! I offered my services to build them one years ago but they never committed. I’ll check it out.
A new contender!
Based out of Germany. No app. Mostly German listings. Bulk UPC or barcode scan import.
Has there been any changes to what people use to track their collections? Was thinking to finally keep a list of what I have and might as well use a site built for it, rather than a bespoke Google Sheet.
Ideally I’d like to be able to track system, region and whether it has a box/cart only etc.
I guess another option than just a pure spreadsheet would be a data entry form and some way to query the spreadsheet. Keep it all local so I am not at the mercy of some site that might/might not let me export data.
I’m still using a spreadsheet for that reason.. I don’t want the site/app to disappear and then I lose all the effort I’ve put into it.
Price Charting. Still my goto for my collection. I can see what it’s worth for whatever condition it’s in, and it’s all in one place.
yeah, sinxe my last post here, rfgeneration has sadly not updated their database very well so there’s more than a few newer titles i don’t have logged
worse yet, the app isn’t compatible with any newer forms of android anymore so i have to use desktop just to find out if the game is listed yet or not ![]()
oh it’s an xbox exclusive, is it? cool cool
I ended up creating my own app (with AI doing a lot of the work) with a python library called Textual because it looked cool. It lets you edit your library or put new games in. It all saves to a CSV that you can do what your like with.
Basically it’s a glorified form but it’s good enough for what I wanted.
Would like to extend it to do some light stats and maybe a screen that lets you pull a random title out based on a couple of filters (like media/console/genre/etc).
this is very cool!
