Play Expo Glasgow
Iāve only ever checked my snes games but most of the genesis stuff I pick up is in $10-$15 range so seems unlikely someone would waste their time making a fake cart.
On a similar topic though, is there way to tell if boxed controllers are fake? I donāt think Iāve seen much for xbox stuff but PS2 seems to have fakes that use the sony logo and put in a similar yellow box but not exactly the same. Canāt seem to find much online to help distinguish besides trying to eyeball old pictures.
Wow thatās crazy! I love that game, I probably would have been too smitten to even check.
It is such an awesome game and thankfully was planning to haggle for it even if the game was authentic but wanted to be assured first. Thank goodness i did it otherwise Iād be so annoyed. Also, didnāt realise I took a picture of the item when I first arrived at the expo. Here you go! You canāt tell from this pic but the back shell was much more yellow than the front.
Aww man that is gutting, but youāre lucky you had the sense to ask to test it!
To be honest I have had some legit games where the back was way more yellow than the front and vice versa.
Iām scouring that pic for Kevin Keeganās Player Manager thinking it might secretly be Firemen on the inside
omg! I shouldāve asked him if he had Kevin Keegan haha.
Bumping an old thread (sorry if this is a no-no), but Iāve heard rumors lately that the stamped numbers on GBA carts are being faked now. Does anyone have experience with this, or photos? I guess the only way to know a GBA game is real or not is to see the PCB these daysā¦
From my experience, GBA (alongside GB games) were faked back in the 90s/00s when there wasnāt even a collectible market.
Best to inspect the cart in person and open it up to see the PCB.
If itās any assurance, Iāve rarely seen any fakes with stamped numbers so if you do come across one then itās probably from a knowledgeable scammer. Your average Chinese cart faker isnāt going to bother to go to that length to fake a game.
Oh geez, so you have seen them, even if rarely? Good to know. Iām glad Iāve got all the GBA PokĆ©mon games I want lol
I need to put a triwing screwdriver in my glovebox, in case some random store says they donāt have the appropriate screwdriver. Iāve not had that happen, but there are some shady stores out there.
Yeah good job you got the PokĆ©mon GBA games because theyāre the most popular fakes and they keep getting better thanks to a consistent interest in all things PokĆ©mon.
Unless youāre buying a game from a friend or a known honest seller who took the time to authentic the game then trwing screwdriver in your pocket will come in handy for sure.
Iāve yet to see it but Iāve heard similar. Like @SupaNintendoChalmers says best to get a closer look at the circuit board. And it might be worth asking for a photo of the label being held up to light - if youāre familiar with GBC/GBA games youāll know the labels tend to have one of two very particular materials and printing to them.
