Unless she has changed things, and I could just check t he website to see, it’s not really a “wait till restocking” thing. Every day/week at a certain time she opens all orders and just closes them when as many as she wants to make come in.
So it’s not about waiting till a specific cable you want comes in stock, it’s just waiting till the next time she opens all orders. If it is something special you need made or a question about what the best cable to get then just email her.
Edit: Here is the link to the info about how her stock works;
Looks like 10am est is when she generally opens orders.
Let’s see if I will actually download the right firmware this time. I keep doing the without audio fw. I even remembered last time and still downloaded the wrong thing.
I’ve only upgraded the firmware once and it was a bit of a hassle! I’m sure it’ll go smoother next time. Can’t wait to ditch my external SLG and just use the OSSC.
I’ve been looking to pick up a small CRT, and found a nearby listing for a JVC TM-90PSN with RGB. Does anyone have any experience with this monitor? Worth picking up for $50?
EDIT: Aaaaaand just got an email saying it’s sold. Shoot.
Yo I’m getting in to making custom audio cables (got me a pair of Audeze LCD-2s and they’re better than sex), was wondering if anyone here had experience making custom video cables, and how prone to interference they are (and thus what sort of wire might be appropriate). Also unsure where folks source SCART plugs, or if they just buy pre-made SCART cables and then add a different termination to one end.
I really want some way to increase the thickness of scan-lines in 5x mode. I love how clear and crisp my 1-chip SFC looks but the scan-lines are so thin.
I got very lucky and snagged a PVM-20M4U from a broadcast technology company that was moving offices and dumping tons of their old tech.
I already had a Framemeister prior to this, so I have some SCART cables for a few of my consoles. I suppose the thing I need to buy now is a SCART to BNC cable, but it’s not at all clear to me whether I need to buy one with a sync stripper or not.
Hi, I’m new here. I joined when I was informed an OSSC was being sold at a great price and I’m happy to say I’m a new owner of one now. I sadly can’t use it as VGP ran out of stock on remotes and their estimated date of restock has now come and gone. In the meantime I’m looking for advice on a component switcher for the OSSC. I’ve seen a video by MLiG that mentioned some examples, but the Monoprice one seems to be discontinued and the gcompsw is much too expensive for me. Does anyone have any suggestions?
How about a BNC matrix switch? It will handle both RGBs, Component, VGA, composite, etc all in one device regardless of format.
It will also be better quality than any component-dedicated option as it’s industrial grade. The only challenge is getting the phoenix block connectors for audio. But there’s dealers who can provide that.
I highly recommend going with Extron over Kramer though. They use a a phoenix block connector that is much more cheaply soldm if you don’t have the patience to make them yourself.
(I know because I have a kramer… works flawlessly though).
I would also add that if you’re going to put yourself in the market for an Extron, make sure you look for models that have the audio (phoenix) plugs. There are lots of models that are video only, and you’d probably want to stay away from them.
Also be sure to pay close attention to the actual number of inputs/outputs in the images on eBay. There are lots of postings that have the model numbers incorrect, so you need to be sure what you’re getting. Don’t always trust the ad title.
The model numbers are the amount of inputs/outputs the unit has; followed by the connections
84 = 8 in, 4 out
128 = 12 in, 8 out
1616 = 16 in, 16 out
Some mobile phones have an IR sensor that you can program like a remote… it’s how I muddled through first owning my OSSC until I sucked it up and bought a remote.
