That looks like an amazing feature list but surely EXPENSIVE.
Yep! I suppose that is why they are trying to be a successor to the Framemeister specifically. I mean, it’s a dream list. Here’s to hoping they can build something that only costs as much as a modern videogame console.
DREAM is right. Looks like someone just posted a Christmas wish list and slapped the word “roadmap” at the top. Am I missing some part of their website or is there any info on why people would believe whoever’s behind this can actually pull it off? Like, what’s their rep or background?
Woozle is on the team so I think that is a good sign.
Looking forward to it and the OSSC pro. And by that I mean I’ll be hanging onto my old ossc for years till both of these have a few revisions.
Photoshop 3.0 (1994) had settings to adjust for colour shift because of Monitor phosphor.
Sounds like a fair deal to me honestly.
Who’s Woozle?
He developed the GBA Consolizer.
Ah, got it. I’ve heard good things about it. Let’s hope his involvement bodes well for this scaler then.
Downscaling made easy is still the ultimate need in my setup.
Yeah, good downscaling at a decent-ish price is still pretty illusive. The Corio C2-400 is still the best bang for your buck in my opinion both on cost and ease of use. They’ve become rare in recently though.
The RetroTINK 5X Pro goes on sale Saturday. It appears review units were already sent out. Very positive reviews, most saying it completely replaces their OSSC and Framemeister. $275 now, $300 after initial batch.
That’s a lot of money!!!
Is it, though? Feature-wise it seems pretty in the ballpark.
Too rich for me, especially with so few types of connections. No VGA!
Mike already showed a passive adapter for the scart socket that makes it accept VGA. 480p through scart was already confirmed.
Oh, that’s good to know.
200 bucks would had been ideal, maybe 250 max. But 300 is crazy so I can’t imagine what the OSSC Pro will cost.
I’m hearing numbers in the $500s for OSSC pro and potentially higher if he can get 4K functionality added.
My current solution (GBS-C + Extron DVS304 + VGA switch KVM) cost me £70 total.
I could maybe pay double that for a one box solution. Triple would be a real stretch. But these figures being mentioned are just madness.
According to the website, UK via DHL is:
$275 + $65 shipping + £50 import duty
That’s £300
That said this is physically the nicest scaler so far, and the remote looks equally well considered.
