RGB High Score Battle! - Week 53 & 54: Double Dragon

Site is updated! Here’s our current week details:

WEEK 53 & 54
Game: Double Dragon
Platform(s): SMS, Mark III
Challenge Type: High Score
Game Details: Full Game
When: Sep 14th - Sep 27th, 2020
Chosen By: MikeRotch

I’ve updated the website with the new game, let’s get punching bad dudes!

Good luck everyone, please submit your scores via screenshot or video by replying directly to this post!

RULES

  1. Competitions last two weeks, close on Sunday night @ midnight.
  2. Post screenshots in this thread as proof.
  3. The winner from the previous week chooses the next game to play.
  4. You cannot choose twice in a row. 2nd place will choose if someone wins two weeks in a row.
  5. If there’s a tie, the person that submitted the high score first gets to choose.
  6. Games must be high score compatible (think “arcade style scores” like Pac-Man, or Spy Hunter, not Super Mario).
  7. Emulation is okay (MAME is often the best for high scores).
  8. No save state manipulation (pausing to take a break is fine though).
  9. Submit scores as soon as you get them! To keep the competition rolling and fair, do not hold on until the last moment to submit.

Points will be awarded for the entrants, based on the position finished for the week. This is to encourage wider participation, and the points will be posted each week as well as on the website.

POSITION POINTS AWARDED
1st: 10 points
2nd: 7 points
3rd: 5 points
4th: 3 points
5th: 2 points
Any honest attempt: 1 point

Overall, we should keep it simple. This is just a good time, not a crazy official high score competition! Game plays should ideally be short and fun so people that can’t invest hours into this can still compete. Obviously we are working on a trust based system here, so don’t ruin it for the others!

Here’s a simple website I made to keep track of the competition.

Not what I would consider a great result, but it’s a first attempt.

Can’t help myself, I’m so sorry:

Haha that’s too good… I have a poster of that movie I have yet to put up.

After a few fantastic failures, I watched a vid on how to fight and also found a good way to rack up the score.

You found a way to score cheese?

Nope. No score cheesing.

Alright this was difficult, mind you I didn’t try very hard and only used a shitty mobile emulator

I’m too ashamed to even screen shot my score. I’ll see myself out

Go for it, any score gets you points here lol

Congrats @MikeRotch, you won! I put it a couple more attempts this weekend, but wasn’t able to beat your score.

Anyone have an idea for the next game? Taking suggestions from anyone for this one.

So, my secret was just to use headbutts. takes 3 headbutts to knock someone down x 200pts per… that’s 600 pts per enemy. And when things got dicey (too many enemies or an Abobo), just use other means.

Anyway, I can’t win twice in a row, and it seems like my suggestions always meet with very small numbers participating, I am open to suggestions as well.

Maybe @MadMaggie88 can pick the next one, let the new blood get her feet wet.

I’ve been avoiding the high score battles for a while now as trying to concentrate on getting my repair/mod backlogs worked through, and generally not been in the mood to game too much due to the joys and stresses of working retail during covid but if the game is right I’ll try to put some time aside for it.
