Great you got it cleaned up though!

Great you got it cleaned up though!
Dear god
Better than roaches to be honest.
Looking at the reason why I open up and do a full cleaning of every old system/controller I buy before they get put in rotation.
Ha! I was just talking about this movie the other day. “What’s in the bag. A shark or something?” Hope I don’t find one of those next!
This. /shivers
Doing something a bit different and playing through the Master System version of Wonder Boy in Monster World (Monster World III) via converter on the Mark III.
It’s fascinating the little tweaks that have been made from the Mega Drive original to make it work on the system, pretty smartly done. The only real negative is the sword animation is a bit crappy so it’s a bit hard to hit enemies early on until you get the trident.
I think this is the best looking Mark III/Master System game?
Vast improvement graphically over the quite often garish Dragon’s Trap/Monster World II. Though no FM sound unfortunately, as the Mark III was long dead by then and this was a PAL-only release (in classic Sega fashion, a PAL-only release that was optimised for 60Hz…)
Only problem: Password saves.
I’ve always considered the Master System version of Wonder Boy in Monster World to be a poor imitation of the MegaDrive game mostly I think due to not playing very far into the SMS version and the as mentioned awful hit detection on the sword you begin the game with.
If I come across it cheap, may pick it up and re-visit it.
At the very least it has insanely close graphics for 8-bit.
It’s vastly better once you get the trident, but the sword is just an animation problem, its hitbox is actually well in front. Once getting used to it it’s about the usual level of slippy/jank for a Wonder Boy game, and is perfectly playable. Actually it’s quite easy.
I actually started the night playing the Dynastic Hero version, and flipped to this on a whim at the end. But have played over 50% of the way through now. The sword is also 90% as crap on the original/Dynastic Hero, but you get the spear pretty quick in those, but have to wait for the Trident in the MS version. It’s streamlined in many ways.
Finished it off. Once you get used to the sword it’s quite easy.
Really quite good, one of the most solid games on the system.
This website is using my pictures to sell box protectors lol
I believe you should be getting a 20% commission cut on all sales then.
Posted in the pick ups thread, spent up on one of the few Mark III cart games I had left to get.
Super fun version, and a game which doesn’t suffer much from the Mark III PSG audio.
I’ll get Bomber Raid one day…
Also a few card games left to get, but they’re not too expensive. Plus the mail order one (Ice Hockey) which I’m not ever going to get.
That’s a lovely collection.
If only we got the same box art here in the West…
Amazing… Is bomber raid one of the more expensive ones for the system? On the master system it’s quite cheap.
The single most expensive retail game. Probably due to low print run as it was the last game released.
There is also a mail order only game, Ice Hockey, but I’m not counting that, too out of reach.
Shame, as it’s not even a great game. I wrote a review on it a while back, actually.
Is Ice Hockey the same game as the SMS Great Ice Hockey, or no?
