I like motion controls, but not in Mario Kart games. I would likely enjoy the tilt controls if the wheel had a mount/pivot in the center to ground the setup rather than just exist as a shell.
I think the labo setups would’ve been to my liking if I ever tried them:
Honestly after so much Wii and Wii U (I didn’t play much Mario Kart on Switch) at this point Mario Kart motion controls are muscle memory for me. I couldn’t tell you what, when, why I do what I do.
I once made it to the final of an MK8 tournament, which surprised a lot of people because I use motion control. I lost to a guy that trash-talked in Luigi’s voice through the whole race.
Also, that Labo is by far the best one. The 4x4 island exploration is amazing. I’d say it was definitely an influence on Mario Kart World.
So I got my system and completed the transfer of content. Checked out 5 mins of the welcome tour. It’s kind of cool.
Also quickly played like 10 minutes of TotK Seitch 2 edition in portable mode and yea… this is really cool.
I really dig the size and specs of the screen and the ability for it to easily nail this large a game at 1080p at 60fps. It was way more impressive than I thought it would be.
Clearer by a long shot than Switch 1 on docked mode to my 4k OLED, especially due to the huge generate bump.
Even when using ultra hand, this game’s frame rate is LOCKED.
Overall, I haven’t had much time to dig in. But it really is a nice system. By far the most premium feeling Nintendo hardware has ever made. I’m not coming from an OLED switch so this is a complete upgrade over my OG Switch.
Looking forward to playing MKW when my schedule allows.
Yesterday’s Splatoon 3 news got me to seek out a used copy yesterday. Also peer pressured into getting a Pro Controller 2 after hearing so much good about it.
Splatoon 3 plays super smoothly with the patch. I had a great time getting back into it last night.
I don’t know how many of you got Welcome Tour but even at $10 I think it’s brilliant! It’s like they made a “game” for budding little engineers and industrial designers! If you have kids that have even mild interest in tech, this thing is wildly engaging in that specific way.
Also, if you have a friend who always claims they can’t see low framerate, Nintendo’s got the game for you.
I honeslty don’t want to say too much because there are a ton of neat little surprises in this thing that only Nintendo would think of and put out there. It’s both silly and educational. Fun and sometimes slight, but always has purpose. Recommended!
Agreed. I’m really digging the Welcome Tour. Worth the 10 bucks for some fun tech demos of the hardware.i also love the explanatory text of how the hardware differs from previous hardware Nintendo has designed.
