This is neat. For widescreen is that still 192 pixels tall per screen or will some games be programmed to fill the entire screen space I wonder?
It’s full screen
494 supported games
Nice! WIll definitely produce amazing results with 3D games, shame the interface has been stretched in Clash King 201, looks good otherwise.
I wonder how it’ll compare to 3DS ports of DS titles, like Inazuma Eleven. The bilinear filtering in the 3DS ports never quite suited the game’s texturework.
So I have been getting the DS itch lately and before I continue purchasing games, I want to get a DSi XL/LL as I already have two DSi’s.
Are there any tips you guys can share with the XL model? Certain colors better than another (not subjective-wise, but internals), anything to watch out for? Besides eBay, what online shops would you recommend?
I just bought two DSi XL’s from FB marketplace for $30 each. I’d check there and eBay. They are stellar. Love the 2D and pixel heavy games on them.
I’m late!
All DSi XL/LLs have IPS displays, though they are calibrated to different degrees. Might be worth asking the seller to take some photos of the home menu so you can see, depending on your preference for cooler or warmer white-points on the display.
Only other thing to watch out is this issue, which I have on one of mine: SOLVED: Turns off when the upper screen/lid is touched - Nintendo DSi XL - iFixit
I have to be close to the end of this. I’ll try to figure out how many levels remaining. I’ve cleared over 100 but not yet managed to complete an area! Mind boggling.
Would be amazing in 3D. And I wish the engine had been used to make an Excite Truck game for DS.
And I’d have the top car by now but my daughter spent all my money just as I was approaching affording it.
The end is in sight!
140 (30*4+20) missions total.
Are you planning on putting up an unlocks FAQ on GameFAQs?
I did go back to this a couple of weeks ago, the engine remains very impressive, though I think I’m stuck due to a few bad car purchase decisions making it very difficult to get a medal on the courses I haven’t obtained one in.
Thinking about an FAQ but have corrected the wording on the unlock cheats/tips on gamefaqs …for now.
Apparently DSiWare games released before 2010 have disappeared from the eShop in North America, I’m going to check my Japanese 3DS:
Edit: Didn’t find anything missing in Japan when I searched for a few titles that released before 2010.
Seems to be North America for now: https://youtu.be/56MouHX89kQ
Delisting of games always sucks 100%
I finally got some of my 3DS DSiware running on the DSi. Finally, after all these years Shantae Risky’s Revenge on the native hardware! It was never released in Australia (because all games had to be rated by our government at a $2000 cost, so obviously many companies didn’t bother due to likely bad ROI), and DSi had an Australian specific firmware so it could not access other stores.
I got it on the 3DS years ago, but always want games on their original hardware.
Now I need to create SDNAND to be able to have the games installed on the regular main menu, but am having issues with the helper thing on Macos, oh well.
I had a brief look on the Australian eShop and Bomberman Blitz was still listed but I didn’t find an entry for Shantae (doesn’t look like it released here in the first place).
Should have gotten these devs on DS Burnout Legends, but I’m glad this one very much has its own flavour compared with modern Burnout
Cheers. I haven’t checked my European 3DS yet but we can safely assume it’s a North American-specific thing for now. Which probably still doesn’t bode well for the future of DSiWare, you’d think just hosting these small files on 3DS eShop wouldn’t be an issue.
Very nice! I should do the same, with the exception of the Four Swords Anniversary release and Flipnote Studio, both of which were free downloads, I’ve never played my DSiWare titles on a DSi itself, since before 3DS launched my only DSi was a North American import which I never added funds to. So I’ve got a lot of DSiWare to go around both my Japanese and European 3DSes, but it’s always been a sub-par experience due to the lower colour gamut of the 3DS and the mismatching screen resolution etc.
If you have any luck creating an SDNAND let me know!
Will do. Probably won’t get round to it for ages though.
