PS3 discs that were also Blu-ray movies

There’s a handful of PS3 discs that were also Blu-ray movies that could be played in any Blu-ray player.

Tekken Hybrid

Tekken Hybrid was a PS3 game that included the animated movie Tekken Blood Vengeance 3D, Tekken Tag Tournament HD and a demo for Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Short Peace: Ranko Tsukimige’s Longest Day

This game by Grasshopper Interactive is also a Blu-ray of the Short Peace anime short anthology. Noteworthy that it was not released in North America in this format due to licensing issues. Ranko Tsukimige’s Longest Day was released as a PSN downloadable title and Short Peace was released on a normal Blu-ray. But the European hybrid PS3 disc is region free, even for the movie.

Top Gun: Wingman Edition

This game has the 1986 movie Top Gun included on its disc.

Days of Thunder

This game has the 1990 movie Days of Thunder included on its disc.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection

Disc 1 of the Legacy Collection contains the graphic novels for MGS1 and MGS2 presented as a Blu-ray movie. These were previously released on PSP UMD. Note that this is not included in the HD Collection.

There are likely more of these, but these are ones I know of.

Note: John Woo’s Stranglehold contains the film Hard Boiled on it, but it’s not playable in a Blu-ray player and is instead found in the menus in DVD quality.

There were two Hybrid Macross disc (one for Do You Remember Love and one for the Macross Frontier movies). They included their respective movies and short games based on Artdink’s PSP Macross games.

Were there any PSP games that doubled as UMD movies I wonder? I guess maybe they’d only have come as separate discs, rather than having this multipurpose functionality.

Speaking of Tekken 3D Prime Edition also included Blood Vengeance 3D on the game card.
