Repairing a Game Boy Cartridge

I’ve been trying to fix my Metroid II cart but so far have not had any success. It’s stuck on the title screen and just loops a distorted version of the music:

I’m about to give up and just pay the $20 for a new one, but figured I’d ask if anyone has been able to repair something similar. I’ve tried cleaning the contacts as an easy first step. I’ve also attempted to resolder the chips as per some YT videos, but that either didn’t solve it or my technique was poor.

Anything else I should try? Nothing to lose at this point so I’m up for any crazy ideas.

Follow the traces and check the continuity from each edge pin to the chips.

Hmm, trying to do that, but not seeing anything jump out at me.

Your ROM could be broken. It’s unusual but it can happen.
