Got a new Retrobit s-video cable for my Dreamcast for only $6. Tested Sonic Adventure, Jet Grind Radio, Giga Wing 2 and Bangaioh which all look great, soooo much better than the blurry eye vomit that is composite. This will be a very good solution in the meantime.

Glad to see that it offers genuine S-Video. You never know with these 3rd party cables.

Enjoy your improved IQ. This is proof that good image quality does not need to break the bank. S-video can look amazing.

I already use s-video on my Saturn, PS1, Duo (modded) and SNES so I know how good s-video is but it’s been so long since I have had to play any games on composite more than a day that it was a wake up call for how great it really is. Noticed a huge improvement right away just on the title screens and menus being really nice and crisp with much brighter color.

Only odd thing I have noticed is Giga Wing 2 has this weird quirk where your fighter will keep shooting for a few moments after letting go of the fire button but it also does this when using composite so guessing it must be a weird quirk of the game and not my TV or latency related issue. Until recently it had been many years since playing GW 2 so didn’t recall this at all.

I’ve been using composite for my DC. :frowning:

I’m waiting for RGC to finally release their rgb cable. It looks like he’s making a component cable as well.

Nice get!

But I gotta ask…

…did George Costanza and a couple of weird looking Russian guys help you secure the TV in the car? :joy:

Totally.

I spent my entire ps2/og xbox gen gaming on that TV…even some ps3, still miss it.

Yeah im still waiting on those Component Cables for Dreamcast.

Main reason I would get one is to compare it to VGA and maybe RGB for Dreamcast.

I found some scart cables on Amazon for ~$6 each so I grabbed 2 of them. The ad says " fully shielded for professional use" so I thought maybe I found a hidden gem !

First impressions are good! Nice and thick with a very nice looking scart head. It weighs a ton!

And…they are garbage. Where’s the shielding they mention?

The scart heads are beautiful though. I’ll be keeping them to make some cables I’ve been wanting to make

I used these for a year and I couldn’t figure out where my issue was because they said fully shielded. Finally I decided to buy a new male 2 male scart cable. Then I found out there was another bad cable in my chain.

When I got it, I was so impressed it looked awesome. Then I plugged it in and I thought something was wrong with my ossc.

One of the biggest things I liked about moving to digital signals/hdmi was no longer worrying so much about cable quality/shielding/whatnot. That was until I dealt with really shitty hdmi cables that were causing handshaking problems. Cables will always be an issue. :C

My digital setup drives me up the wall. If I turn cec on it’s a total nightmare !

Turning off my reciever turns my TV back on and turning off my Xbone turns my PS4 on!!!

I flirted with owning a receiver again and I couldn’t stand it. I use auto HDMI switches and use optical out to my headphone amp.

Will these work?

PS2 (480i) - component cable - Retrotink 2x bob deinterlacing - VGA CRT monitor

PS2 (480p) - component cable - Retrotink 2x passthrough - VGA CRT monitor
