Got a nice load of Master System games today! They are in great shape too.
Great SMS pick ups @raskulous
Sadly Rainbow Islands has a game breaking glitch in it that freezes the game at the ending, which only got fixed for the Brazilian Tectoy release, but non-the-less it is an amazing port!
Asterix was one of my favourite games on the SMS growing up. Sadly the sequels aren’t as good.
Never played the SMS port of Lemmings but I hear it was rather good!
Interesting about the Rainbow Islands release, I didn’t know that. Maybe it would make a good candidate for a future AMD EEPROM swap. Has it been fixed by the SMS community in a ROM patch?
I bought a bunch of EEPROMS some months back, but haven’t gotten around to buying a programmer.
edit: Some cool info on it here: View topic - What's Up With Rainbow Islands? - Forums - SMS Power!
There’s also a fixed ROM near the bottom of the page, and you can also use a game genie code to fix it if you’re running one, or an everdrive.
New PCB day is best day.
Today I got my hands on a Vendetta / Crime Fighters 2 by Konami. A fun beat em’ up with cool music by Michiru Yamane and Hideaki Kashima of Konami Kukeiha Club fame. Local good price pickup too, love those.
Wasn’t aware there was a Game Genie Fix for the game.
I had posted about the Rainbow Islands issues on SMS Power around 4-5 years ago. I believe I even posted in the thread you linked!
Sadly you can’t do a EEPROM swap on Rainbow Islands as it uses a combined Mapper and Mask Rom IC, as many other SMS games did (probably to keep production costs down as it was really a budget system) so you have to use a donor board from another game to fix it sadly…
Ah boo! Oh well, I’ll have to play it on the everdrive on the Genesis
Second game of the Treasure N64 Trinity received, Yuke-Yuke!! Trouble Makers.
Wasn’t expecting the manga pages in the manual, very very cool!
To this day, I have still never figured out how to play Mischief Makers lol. I get stuck a few levels into it and have no idea what to do.
I just played a couple of levels and wow, it really does seem like a puzzle platformer type game, and I must say I don’t have a clue what I’m doing either so far haha.
Some new golf ‘forever’ games - okay maybe not in the case of PS1 Eikou no Saint Andrews. But an interesting N64 to PS1 port nonetheless.
While looking for something completely unrelated in a totally different shop, I made my way to book off and found this. Kinda pleased as a toy purveyor. It was a good price. I’ve played the US version a looong time ago and it wasn’t terrible, so I suspect this will be just as… not terrible. Can’t be worse than the first Beast Wars game (I know that it’s not). All I hope now is that they had the foresight to keep the English voices in there for my sake alone. Yeeees
Got the Famicom Mini GBA version of Famicom Tantei Club. I really adore the original manual artwork and the expressive colours used in the illustrations. Also interesting seeing a notes section for the player to make, while not uncommon back in the 80s it’s one element that was added and automated in the Mages remake.
Some now master system love, a couple HEAVY hitters this time.
Picked up Power Strike and Scramble Spirits locally, and Golden Axe Warrior off eBay.
Golden Axe is in absolutely MINT condition, I’m super stoked about it. Probably one of the best condition games I own.
whistles Some good grabs there! I actually found Power Strike locally myself but it was just loose. I’m not familiar with Scramble Spirits. I’ll check it out!
Talk about some amazing pickups! And you found Power Strike locally too, which is really nice.
Congrats and most importantly, enjoy!
Thanks! Power Strike didn’t come with a manual unfortunately, but it was cheap enough I didn’t think too harshly about ordering a manual for it off eBay, which still ended up cheaper than the usual CIB pricing for the set.
It worked out nicely!
Got a new toy, thanks to @Danexmurder.
Fully loaded GBA mod: Boxy Pixel aluminum shell, IPS screen, li-ion battery, speaker mod and color scheme echoing the DMG. The screen is amazing, especially great for GBC games. Highly recommend Dane as a modder. You can see this project in his video thread. I think the final video is coming soon.
Oh, yeah, and the Everdrive. I’m loading this thing down with all the greats of the GB family library, from 1989 to 2006!
