How is it? Is there any music?
Yeah there is music! It’s pretty cool so far but framerate can really chug sometimes. I haven’t had much chance to play, maybe 40 minutes. I hear there are some bugs they will have to patch around to get it close to completable
Real n64 or emulation? I read overclocking the r4000 CPU helps when emulating to get the framerate up somewhere earlier today.
Emulation. So I do have an option to run the game with smoother framerates
I wonder how it is on Parallel N64, would that in theory deliver an extremely authentic experience on this unreleased game?
Played some Umihara Kawase Shun this evening. Got as far as stage 36 - I was far too fixated on getting to the more difficult exit door and ended up losing all my lives…
This is the original version of the game with the commercials intact!

Samsung 4K LCD + OSSC and custom scanlines (18, 0 0, 18, 50). 480p reminds me of playing on a PC CRT back in the day.
It’s Metroid mOTHER which is a combination of several romhacks including saving, a minimap and updated sprites and tiles.

I never knew anything like that existed. I really need to grab more flash carts for these types of things. The Dinosaur Planet leak one has me really jealous too!

Yeah, I’ll admit its things like this that made me glad I flipped the collection and went the flashcart route. I do miss having the physical games occasionally but being able to play romhacks and betas more than makes up for it.
Speaking of N64 there’s some incredible romhacking that’s being done targeting real hardware:
The M64 stuff is incredible as the modder replaced the character models with optimised versions and even disabled hardware anti-aliasing to achieve a better framerate.
