My favorite JRPG and the SNES version is still the best imo.

You’re all killing me with regret with the D-Series XXX pics. I sold my 27" for ~$25 in 2009. :sob:

First game I’m planning to play when I get mine. I already am in the middle of a save but I put it on hold til I get a D-Series. My favorite RPG, and I’ve never experienced it this way.

Some Switch downscaling.

Not a CRT but Mister shadow masks are a big step up from basic SLGs

I’ve been enjoying my MX7000 more during these dark cold days and nights. Here’s some metal gear solid, rendered at 2x native Res on beetle-psx-hw, and downscaled to native 240p. Perfect for that seamless 2d/3d blend that psx games need.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy on Nintendo 64. Unlike PS1 version, this port is pure 240p. Photo by Xiaomi Note 5 Pro.
Setup:
Nintendo 64 NUS-001 (JPN) N64RGB modded + Everdrive 64.
Samsung CS15k8mjq CRT TV with native Scart RGB, slot shadow mask.

I used to think the old MK games were ugly until I saw them in 240p. Must have been quite the experience back in the day, the graphics look surprisingly realistic for the time.

Same tbh. I remember it looking wicked as a kid but it being too mature for me so I barely saw it in person other than in arcades. Then when I tried it on a CRT with s-video as an adult it blew my mind. Me and my friends feel like they have aged so well in terms of the backrounds and sprite work. The smart use of strong looking colors helped keep it all really cohesive looking as well and helped hide the low res nature of games back then.

Eh… I never liked it even as a kid. It’s always a been “too” realistic and violent for my tastes. I recognize they’re good games though.

Definitely, the graphics shine at 240p and it’s basically required to see them correctly. They’re kind of like DKC on SNES in that regard.

Another one joining the D series train in this thread lol. Picked up a 32" while moving places this last month. Testing it with the Spaceworld 97 restoration hack through my PC. Loving it so far

Seriously thinking of selling my OSSC and GBS-Control and just getting this beauty. Those scanlines are brilliant + it handles composite and S-video.
