SCANLINE SCREENSHOT THREAD. BECAUSE 240p IS ALL THE P'S I NEED. (56k warning)

Yep, I’m glad to have gotten both versions before that happened.

What are you using for your downscale?

A GBS Scaler: GBS 82XX - Upscale, deinterlace and now downsample A hassle to setup but really worth it for the cost and performance

Nice shots.

I started this for the first time on ps2 recently, it looks gorgeous, especially in progressive scan.

I’m really digging your PS2 and Xbox shots.
The car selections from GT3 and 4 were spot on too. If you’re not getting a bit sideways in an R32 GTR, you’re doing it wrong.

Thanks! Yea it’s a pretty game, and the port is very solid, it looks way better than the PC version as it has better quality textures and models, and some nice animations for the HP and HEV suit refills, they are now 3D models instead of a texture on the wall. The framerate however is quite inconsistent, maybe they should’ve kept it a locked 30 as jumping from 60 to 30 feels worse than just having it constant, for me at least, but it’s way better than how I played it on PC back in the day. Also I didn’t like that rectangle around the target that snaps to near enemies as I don’t use the aim-assist or the lock-on. I tried to plug in a mouse and keyboard and to my surprise the keyboard worked, but the mouse wasn’t even getting its lights on, let alone working, so I just played with the Dualshock 2. I guess you need an older or a simple mouse for the game to see it.

Did you use GSM to force it to 480p? As far as I know it doesn’t officially support progressive scan.

The PC version of Half Life also has the HD pack, did you try that?

You’re not wrong about the frame rate. DF retro did a comparison of all the versions of it, and that’s the only thing letting the ps2 version down.

I’m using a cheap scaler, which deinterlaces to a 480p signal.

I think I just left it to the component to vga transcoder.
I’ve found some other games appear a bit blocky with the GSM method.

I’d like to see some proper full screen comparisons somewhere of Dreamcast native VGA, vs OSSC x2 +Scanlines, vs DCHD.

Last time it was set up to favor the digital mod, but I’d like to see where it’s being done more seriously.
