SCANLINE SCREENSHOT THREAD. BECAUSE 240p IS ALL THE P'S I NEED. (56k warning)

Another great example of original GB shading suiting greens better than greys. Looks really good.

Yes, Bangaio is native 240p and it is a very gorgeous game on the DC. It’s fun and beautiful.

Sorry, I should have clarified that only that LB2 shot was interlaced (from the art menu)

It’s 240p on Dreamcast. Not sure whether it’s 320 x 240 specifically though.

I just grabbed a screenshot from hg101 that looks to be either direct capture or emulation, plugged it into an editor, and the dimensions given are 320x250…so, kind of an answer?

That’s definitely smart use of the screen. The gradient isn’t as evident on it

It’s a Corio downscaler??? Am i right?

It’s the GBS Scaler with the control mod. Someone is going to be selling them pre-modded soon: https://www.gbscaio.com/

I would have liked a Corio but they are super expensive from what I’ve seen on Euro eBay sites.

Twinklestar Sprites on Dreamcast using GD Emu. In 31kHz this 15kHz game looks strange. Native scanlines.
Setup: LG Flatron F920P 19" CRT VGA Monitor, Dreamcast HKT-3000 (VGA Cable) and Trust Soundbar.

Oh yeah, i heard about it. Excellent stuff.

Looks line doubled for sure.

Yep.

Honestly I wouldn’t sweat it on the Corio. I snatched one when they were $50. I also bought an Extron Super Emotia funneled through a USP 405 and I’m still not 100% happy with the scaling on any of them. I’m going to do grab a GBS and see how I think it compares. The shots I’ve been seeing look great.

That’s cool, I’ll be interested to hear what you think of it when you get one. The GBS’ downscaling is pretty good, I think I can only fault the slightly jumpy 480i downscaling (480p seems pretty solid overall) and the lack of vertical scaling, which is probably down to how the lines are merged but not really a huge issue. With the OSSC Pro on the way it should offer a bit more control and is sure to cost less than the Corios so I’m happy not to be hunting for one on eBay these days.

Who do you like in the playoffs this year?

I actually haven’t followed the NHL since NHLPA '93 and NHL '94 were og, lol. I’ll be paying more attention this year with the Kraken coming. It will be nice to have a winter sport. Winter has been pretty boring sports wise since the SuperSonics left.

You could try that game with a scanline generator since you’re using vga.

Wanted to share some 240p downscaled shots! These are via Extron Super Emotia into a USP 405 for tweaking.

First up is Panzer Paladin on a BVM-14F5U

And a couple on the PVM-5041Q for fun.

I also Blasted through Carrion in a sitting last night. Awesome game! Highly recommended if you ever wanted to play a game where you are the thing from “The Thing.”
