Roadblasters on Water is the best way to describe this week’s Battle of the Ports.
This is interesting. I’m primarily a Linux user so something like this would be really nice. I wonder if it supports unusual resolutions like what I’d get out of an X68000 or a mid-res 24khz arcade game.
As voted on by the subscribers, here is the remastered version of Battle of the Ports - Golden Axe. The original video was published way back on 17th November 2013 and was the 9th show in the series.
I know you don’t always cover all ports, but I think you missed a big one with the Sega Ages Switch release which is enhanced quite a bit over the original 3DS port done by M2.
I don’t follow Switch at all. I wasn’t even aware of this or that there was a Panzer Dragoon remake. that was a surprise.
None game related video today.
Here’s a very rare chance to get an outside view of a trip from the bottom of Honshu japan to the top of Kyushu Japan all in real time via the JR Kyushu Kagoshima Line.
JR never have the windows open on trains but due to the Covid-19 issue a few weeks back, they did! What a chance to get actual outside footage of the train travelling.
The Sega Ages releases on Switch are fantastic, and as someone who enjoys arcade games and history as much as you do, not to mention Sega games, I’m really surprised you’re ignoring the platform. It’s loaded with excellent ports in addition to the new software that arrives. Having a portable device that allows for vertical arcade game play with the addition of a $10 FlipGrip in a way that’s far more comfortable than any device that’s come before it is way too valuable to ignore IMO.
The Arcade Archives series, which yes, is available elsewhere, is at its best on Nintendo Switch by far I think.
Well, here’s the thing. I own everything that is already on the switch related to Sega gaming on other platforms. They are also games I’ve played to death over the past 30 years or so. If the day was 48 hours long and I had twice the life span, yeah, it would be cool to get in to updated versions of games I’ve played may times but sadly that’s not the case. So I tend not to pay much attention due to many other games being out there that I’ve not yet played.
Also, I don’t value digital downloads at all, especially of games I own on other formats in physical media.
The remake of virtual racing is cool but it’s digital only so I’m not too bothered by not having it when I already have the PS2 Sega Ages version and the ability to play the original on Mame for free.
For people who are not as lucky as myself to own most games, the Switch is a fantastic entry portal. that I do agree upon. Especially for the younger gamer but yeah, for me, it’s just more of the same with a new lick of paint and a few bells and whistle which I’m afraid don’t grab my attention over newer or games I’ve yet to try.
Hope I don’t come across as a Switch hater, that’s certainly not the case.
Right time for this week’s show - Another view request this week on Battle of the Ports. The almighty Wolfenstein 3D
In this Life in Japan I present you with a look of life as it passes by. Rain, rain and more rain plus some very cool looking restaurant an empty train and more rain. Oh, and a few night shots.
