Danexmurder’s Mods and Repairs Thread.

Not my usual type of repair but hey. If it’s broke. Fix it. Still ashamed I broke the shell but this makes me feel a little better. Gorilla Glue got the job done.

Did my first Funnyplaying IPS LCD and reshell mod for my GBA SP. It was an old beater I got for cheap. I threw a new battery in it too. I really love the way it looks. The screen is really something to behold in person.

Just finished up a refurb/repair on a Game Gear for a friend. This one was really rough. Batteries had leaked inside and it was full of corrosion. After a full recap I couldn’t get the system to power on for longer than a second. I got a kit to replace the usual suspects on the power board but still didn’t have any luck. I decided to stop hassling with it and just get a USB-C kit from Handheld Legend and that did the trick!

I also replaced all of the eaten up battery connectors and put a new glass lens on it. The original plastic one looked like someone had taken sandpaper to it.

Quite a step up.

Here’s what it looked like when I first opened it up.

Haha I’m like immediately screaming in my head @Danexmurder:

The capacitor is bulging! THE CAPACITOR IS BULGING!!! Look at the capacitor already!!!

…and then he does.

Ha! Figures that I’d be searching over all the tiny bits first before noticing the GIANT CAPACITOR.

Part 2 of the CDX recap is up. A friend of mine edited this one for me. I’d love to hear your feedback.

Holy cow @ those teeny little capacitors. Love being able to watch this. I’ll have so much more appreciation for the final product.

Glad you’re enjoying them! Yeah, those tiny caps were a trip. Those Tweezers where the key to doing that right for sure. I started in on the screen work but realized I forgot to order the necessary bracket. That shipped out today.

If you lost those capacitors I would just assume that spider ate them. :eyes:
