Boulder Dash looks like a good candidate.
Huh, so after all these years I put two and two together, David Crane, of Pitfall and Boy and his Blob fame, made Bart Simpson Escape from Camp Deadly. And also contributed to the other crappy Imagineering Simpsons games (Space Mutants, Bart vs The World).
It makes so much sense now. Simplistic gameplay and physics stuck in the VCS/2600 era, and graphics not much better.
The color choices here make it look like his eyes are red.
Yeah eyes darker than skin…
Their NES games also had that ‘unlicensed game/ DOS game’ look, characters without black outlines
Getting back into Game Boy stuff! I recently picked up a copy of Hime’s Quest which I loved the ROM of, very short but fun Zelda exploring thing with fun jokes. And My Shantae Advance arrived, pictured here with my GBC Shantae.
I’m like 3 Shantae games behind though so will probably wait on Advance until I’ve finished 1/2 Genie Hero and Seven Sirens.
Very cool to see Nintendo adding Survival Kids to NSO, presumably because the series is coming back as a launch title on Switch 2.
Funnily enough I had picked up both black cartridge GBC games from Japan late last month, so probably a good excuse to get round to playing them. At the moment going through Koei’s Samurai Kid, a pretty novel action platformer.
