Really a big bummer and has me worried about the long term viability of the project. This preorder process has now become a kickstarter. I would’ve released on a staggered basis rather than delay for everyone.

Yeah very big red flag. And their reasoning is bunk. “We won’t have enough stock”
Oh so you will have a few thousand but would rather warehouse them for a year until everyone can get it at once? That would have huge costs to hold onto them.
More likely I think their costs have gone through the roof due to chip shortage and they are scrambling.
