Any good videos on fixing the connector or suggestions of good replacement connectors? I took it apart this morning after it stopped working last night but still just get the blinking power light with a green screen.
72pin connector on a front loader? If so, I love the Blinking Light Win.
Yup, front/side loader whatever you want to call it. I’ll take a look.
I second Dubc’s opinion on the BLW. Thing is great.
Hmm it’s only a preorder though
I’ll give it another shot tonight to try and fix it and then if I’m still out of luck maybe I’ll wait for that one since it looks well done.
You can always try the boiling trick.
Is that safe? I guess I’m worried about it being wet and corroding something
I’d say so. You just have to make sure it is fully dry before you use it. You definitely don’t want to short something.
Yeah that shouldn’t be an issue at all. Going to try to bend the pins too since the carts feel loose going in.
I did that with mine. before I put in a BLW. I think I just used some dental tools but it is pretty easy to bend them.
I have an eyeglass screwdriver that I’m hoping is small enough to manipulate them.
Seeing a little bit of life after prying up the connector but still super hit or miss. The battle continues
Since the Game Genie’s pcb is thicker than a regular cart’s pcb you can use it to get games to play on a 72-pin adapter that’s too loose to work normally. Just don’t enter any codes.
Bending the pins have largely fixed it now. Still temperamental and need to take the cart out a couple times but after that I’ve been able to get most of them to boot and play. Going to recoean all my carts just in case but seems to be working well enough even with the issue turning on initially.
I boiled mine and it worked okay, but was still really loose, so connections weren’t always that great with some games.
Last week I installed a BLW and it’s incredibly good. I would highly recommend it.
BLW is an essential front loader NES mod IMO. I can’t recommend it enough. If I ever buy another NES (Hi-Def NES maybe) it will be included in my budget. I bought mine for my NESRGB in July '17 and I haven’t seen a blinking light once.
Honestly the Hi Def Nes is a great product but Kevtris has more or less abandoned it at this point. As someone who used to own one I’d stay stick with your NES RGB as there are numerous issues that haven’t been fixed for years at this point.
Quick pics (sorry for blurry) of my biggest find in years. Will do up a full thing about it. Looks like it has some small leaks I’ll repair.
WOW
Whoa, absolutely killer. Your FC collection is unrivaled!
