Nintendo Gamecube |OT| Nintendo's Original Console on the Go

That was one of the reasons I went ahead and picked up the rest of what I needed! GB Player + Everdrive x5 mini, basically my ultimate GameCube / GBA setup.

Toddler approved.

Total winner.

I reckon older games will be best for kids. Give them an older console and 2-3 games only, will help with learning patience lol

Looks awesome, nice setup for the little one!

Did Nintendo ever release a black Wavebird? Or is it a third party? I only have the grey one, and never bothered with the silver. But that black one looks great.

I picked those up along with the Gamecube last year. They’re just grey Wavebirds that the previous owner spray-painted black and pink. Pretty cool! I immediately got visions of my lil boy and girl playing Double Dash together lol. Kind of a scrappy DIY job; the paint on the pink one is chipping away in spots so I’ll have to give them another coat or something one of these days.

Ohhhhh, haha! Yeah, that is pretty cool. I didn’t even realize the other Wavebird was pink until you mentioned it. I thought it was just the lighting in the photo on a grey Wavebird.

At my son’s middle school (grades 6-8) the teachers and kids would all get together and have Smash Bros. tournaments in the after school care. They had N64, Gamecube and Wii, all hooked up to CRTs. It was beautiful. This was BC, before Covid btw, which is why there are no masks in the photos.

They also displayed their gaming artwork on the walls for everyone. Fun times.

Woah! Someone finally did it! Can’t wait to see a side by side comparison between these and the original ones.

This is frigging sweet. We used to have halo 2 available to play at lunch time for a quarter per match. It was for “charity” but really we were just having this so we could play halo against each other haha

This is wonderful. Love seeing the torch being passed on to future generations. I hope my future kid(s) enjoy the hobby as well

I have a Gamecube but rarely if ever use it since the component cables were always too expensive.

Has anyone tried the Prism cables here with some impressions? I would only be playing on CRTs.

My ones are coming next week. I’ll drop some impressions here next week (but just an FYI, my CRT only does 480i)

The last summer I bought R: Racing Evolution (jap) with the official force feedback Logitech GC wheel, what a blast.
The FFB is so good for the era, with suprisingly great driving physics, of course limited compare to real sim but very well implemented in term of gameplay perspective, wich is the strength of this talented arcade team who knows how to build a good gameplay on wheel. This game is so underrated for me, but only with the ffb wheel cause unfortunatly it’s not good to play with the pad.
I’ve made videos:

Good review of it here… seems they are living up to the hype.

Thanks for sharing your CRT recordings, I love the blue skies there! Looks more Sega Rally than the disappointing 2006 PS2 release.

Do you know if the GameCube version of R: Racing Evolution had the best visuals? I’m more interested in effectswork than resolution.

For example, just watching this PS2 vs Xbox gameplay and you can immediately see the heat haze is missing on Xbox, and the car reflections are simplified and no longer reflect the full environment:

Edit: Looking at GameCube footage and it seems to retain the heat haze and environmental reflections which is great!

This looks good I’m going to have to try it.

wait wait GC has an SD setup now too? I gotta hear impressions on this thing!

I don’t know for the best version, all I can say is that the GC version is gorgeous on CRT, some arcade Ridge Racer vibes in many ways, but with a little more realistic environments and a physics driving style. And 60 FPS without any drop even with five others (beautiful) cars, no pop up.

GC loader is still better afaik. You still need a soft or hard mod to use the SD2SP: GameCube ODE | RetroRGB

I use both. I have a GC loader with my GameCube collection and I use the SD2SP2 for loading homebrew like the Game Boy Interface. Works great.
