PlayStation Portable |OT| EVERYWHERE JUST GOT BETTER!

You might want to pick up a ps1 classics. The controllers feel really close to og ps1 controllers and they work on ps3

Thanks for this, I definitely will be trying score attack mode too so it’ll certainly come in handy.

Adoring the game so far. Hard to fault it, and that both Zanac Neo and Famicom Zanac still feel very unique even today speaks a lot for how forward thinking the game was at the time. Execution is perfect too, there’s rarely a dull moment as soon as it begins, and it feels like there are endless ways to approach or manipulate the game’s intelligence.

I want to pick up a PS1 copy so I can use my Namco stick with it, but it’s so expensive…

Zanac x Zanac and Suikoden II are my ‘holy grail’ ps1 games. Harmful park and the other insanely costly games aside. Will pick it up this year, but I got distracted and bought 2 aquariums last week. whoops.

CPS2 core incoming

Just realised my SELECT button has scratches on it which I now can’t unsee…

Still, lovely device. Shame the E1000 undid the loveliness.

you should be able get those scratches out with plastic polish?

Never heard of plastic polish. Got any links of stuff you recommend?

I’ve used this https://www.cutmyplastic.co.uk/unipol-plastic-polish/

But Google will get you home remedies and alternatives.

Not sure about the type of plastic for the PSP button above. If it’s rubberised then maybe abort!

Thanks for this! Might be good for a 3DS as well. I guess it also depends on how far “into” the plastic surface the lettering is on these handhelds, I’m worried about scrubbing that off.

My MHP3rd PSP-3000 arrived. Wasnt expecting the soft touch rubbery surface (think like an old school ThinkPad), it’s quite nice and appreciably different to a regular 3000. Definitely more comfortable with the handles on the back!

That seriously looks like the best PSP. I really wasn’t aware of this model until you posted about it recently.

glad you got one. Like I’ve said, really pleased with mine but I haven’t had a lot of time to play games this week.

How much did you pay if you don’t mind my asking? I still need a PSP. I’ve only ever owned a vita.

I’m looking to grab a 3000 model

I bought mine BIN off ebay for 70$. I’ve seen them go for less, but I think that’s fairly typical. And mine came with a broken button. AFAIK, everything except the case and analogue stick themselves are replaceable (the screen, the buttons, their pads), but the PSP is slightly obnoxious to teardown since it’s very densely packed.

The 3000 is easier to take apart (the face comes off as one piece) but the worst part is you get dust between the screen and face that will never come out.

it’s mostly the step immediately after that which is obnoxious. Taking off the front plate and buttons is trivial (just a matter of screws), going the step further is a bit obnoxious. It’s nothing catastrophic but someone who isn’t confident probably wouldn’t feel comfortable removing the screen itself without a bit of guidance, I’d think. It always gives me the sense that i’ve missed a screw or something since it’s packed in there so tightly.

About $100, though I did want a boxed model that was in good nick. That said they shipped it with a third party battery cell (Japanese branded though I don’t know the cell origin) which wasn’t the one shown in the photo. It’s meant to come with the 2200 mAh extended battery but I got a 1200 mAh one instead so there’s no battery improvement for me yet.

I noticed that the face buttons exhibit less feedback when pressed compared to my vivid blue model.

Noticed I got dust under my vivid blue PSP-3000 the other week! Probably from the lint in my pocket which isn’t great…

I was sorry to hear about your lint/screen problem.

I have a Sony PSP-branded pouch for my 1000-series. https://www.amazon.com/Sony-PSP-System-Pouch/dp/B00B8WPEE6

it’s easy to clean out the dust ime. just gotta open it up, clean both the lens and the screen, then close it before dust settles back in lol.

For the buttons, i would definitely check the pads. unfortunately, the PSP has its pads and buttons melded together, so it might require a full replacement.
