Did Sony release an official component cable for the PSP-3000 - can’t seem to find a model number or listing anywhere!
There’s a few for the expensive PSP go cable and dock, but I’ve given up on wanting that since my PSP go display developed over a dozen dead pixels…
Going back to Vita TV, if you directly go to the PSP OS is it still running under emulation? One of the niggles I had with PSP/PS1 games on Vita is the input latency, you could feel it in every game, even on simple menu screens.
The 3000 uses the exact same cables as the 2000. Sony never bothered to update the packaging to say it was compatible with the 3000 model so that’s why it says 2000 only on the box. The cables definitely work on the 3000.
As for the PSTV input latency, that was most likely from the fact that it was always scaling the 960x554 image to 720p which more than likely added some lag as well as a horrible bilinear filter which always made games look blurry. The filter also extended to PSX games which made them looked horrible on a PSTV.
Using sharpscale on the PSTV I haven’t noticed any input lag. My oled has around 13ms of latency so any added lag would be pretty noticeable.
Adrenaline is still partial emulation yeah but I have found that it tends to run psp games better. You even have access to the VHS menu so you can set the clock speed and driver to your liking just like on an original psp as well as any plugins you used to use. I haven’t noticed any I put lag when playing PSP games on adrenaline but I also don’t remember how bad it was playing natively on the vita so I’d have to check to make sure.
looking to grab a PlayStation tv from offerup for $100 on monday, y’all convinced me this would be the best option - may need that external hdd later, I’ve got 20+ gb free on my vita right now and can make way more space so i’m guessing i may need an hdmi and a ds3 my dog didn’t chew on years ago, haha
other than needing to install cfw on said vita, am i missing anything? also can said vita still go online after that?
also uh where does one acquire PSP isos now that emuoaradise/iso sites are gone? feel free to DM if this violates rules here & as always blame the booze
It has 1GB built in and it uses the exact same memory card as the Vita so if you have one it will work as long as you’re logged in to the same account on both.
You don’t need any of those overpriced Sony memory cards if you plan to install CFW, you can use an USB stick or an external HDD. Or if you don’t like the look of a USB/HDD sticking out of that small console you can simply get a sd2vita adapter to use the cartridge slot for a microSD card. That way you can have both USB slots free so you can use any kind of USB controllers for multiplayer via Retroarch emulation if you like using the console for that purpose.
PS1 multiplayer works natively with wireless DS3 or DS4 controllers so you don’t need the USB ports.
Also, emuparadise is not gone and was never down at all, it’s just that the download links are “hidden”. Google “emuparadise workaround script”, set it up and you can access everything again.
I had some free time this week and fired up the PSP to see how it would look with the new(ish) OSSC firmware. Here’s a picture of a PSP 3000 connected via component and displayed on a 50" plasma:
I had that impression, too, but have not been able to get it to fill the 1080p screen yet. Admittedly I’ve put in low effort so far and might be doing something wrong.
Ahh, I did try it on a 4:3 LCD and it was fullscreen albeit squished thanks to lack of AR controls but thought maybe it was different for 16:9 screens for reasons. Looking forward to hearing what you think when you get it fullscreen!
I may need a bit of help on this one. I’ve followed the instructions found here (basically, setting 480p in sampler to “PSP 480x272”), but no amount of tweaking has had an effect. If anyone is more familiar with the OSSC options and has any suggestions, I’m open to trying them.
Thanks, yeah, seeming that way. This TV has had other similar problems with OSSC compatibility (480p line2x not working) so I’m probably stuck with this as the best I can do at the moment.
It’s a 10+year old Panasonic that has been excellent except for these occasional quirks. I’ve had my eye on the LG OLEDs for a while and maybe I’ll make the switch at some point.
Circular base and curved lip at the bottom so not an S1 plasma I think. I’m still rocking my 2009 TC-P46S1 plasma, my first and only HDTV. If the room is chilly I can just turn on the TV, lol. I’m riding it out until it dies…hopefully I’m not jinxing myself here.
Good eye, it’s a TC-P50G10 which I also got in 2009. My only regret was not getting a bigger size at the time - would have made it even easier to ride this out until the very end.
Yeah, the PSP-3000 never got the credit it deserved, just wish it was easier to switch colour profiles since some games were built with earlier PSP models in mind.
It’s definitely better than the Vita for PS1/PSP titles due to the dot point resolution output of those games being a match for the pixel grid.
The PSP port of Way of the Samurai is surprisingly excellent.
Perhaps owing to it being a 60fps game on PS2, it’s 30fps here but it still looks good, speaking volumes about the art direction in the original game, since the textures (mostly) still appear clear and well defined on the lower resolution display despite a drop in quality.
I’ve been obsessed with the original game lately, having done over a couple of dozen successful and unsuccessful playthroughs, and it only took me a few minutes to adjust to playing this conversion. Impressive.
