Yeah, I thought of that but it took quite a bit of convincing to get my partner to agree for me to holesaw some cable throughholes in the back of it.
And ideally I’d like something non-permanent.

I was going to say some L brackets and a plank of wood, but even with small screws it would put holes on the inside. You could build a riser, think of like a computer monitor stand - essentially a small table inside that has thin legs to create another shelf.
Something like this but made of wood, aluminum, or a delrin type plastic.

yeah i just thought the WU was a better name and stuck with that
assuming you meant zelda rug, let’s see some examples cause i’m down for this
my older brother was the atari generation, so the SMS was my first console - it’s always gonna have a special place in my heart <3
that’s why i got it FM modded a year or so back!
@Peltz not bad! got it in this amazing haul years ago for $50 on craigslist, still running strong. i clean it from time to time (the tray/head as well as the contacts), ive a backup model 2 but this is the model i grew up with as well!
How are you liking the FM mod? I’ve been eyeing that myself, but I do prefer PSG on some games like R-Type. Does yours have a switch?
it does! you can’t switch midgame but it’s a great option to hear some of my favorites in a new light - rastan, golvellius etc
The ultimate dream.
Love the setup!
Here’s my humble, wife approved and toddler resistant mostly retro gaming setup:
The TV is a recently purchased TCL 65R617 which has been working very well with the OSSC. I’m trying out bias lighting but haven’t decided if I’ll continue using it or not. The middle section contains a power conditioner, OSSC, HDMI switch, and few other boring things.
This side contains my SCART-based consoles. Top shelf has a 1-chip SNES and RGB modded NES with SD2SNES and N8 flash carts respectively. I’d like to find a better place for the SCART switch but it works for now.
Bottom shelf has a model 1 Genesis with Mega EverDrive X7 and PS1 with modchip. I’d like to expand the Genesis with a 32x and Sega CD at some point. Would also like a PSIO for the PS1.
This side has my HDMI-based consoles. Top-left is a GameCube with GameBoy Player, GCPlug, and modchip for launching GBI easily. Next is a PSTV with Ensō hack installed and finally a stock launch-model Switch. Bottom shelf contains an RGH modded XBOX 360 with external hard drive and a MiSTer.
The wife-approval-factor is always a thing. Looks simple (in a good way) and well executed.
Brilliant!
Yeah that’s nice. Very clean and minimal. Looks great
Very nice and tidy set up right there.
Just put up a new video showing the current gaming room and how everything is connected to the TV and capture PC.
Was expecting a room full of Chinese knock-offs and handhelds!
Is that FM Towns the one you cleaned up a view uploads back?
I sell or give away most of the Chinese stuff. Can’t have that clogging up the room.
Yep, that FM Towns is the same one
I’ve finally finished my sunroom/office setup and I’m really pleased with it. I’ve had to keep it intentionally minimalistic because adding a second CRT to the house was really stretching the limits of my wife’s patience with me and this hobby. (She’s an absolute saint.)
Anyway, the Wii, Genesis, and PSX are all using component cables, while the DC is having to get by with svideo. The only way I was able to pull this off in the space was thanks to homebrew allowing me to rip all my GC and Wii discs to a HDD and the DC running a GDEMU now. The PS gets the privilege of spinning real discs and my Genesis collection is small enough to fit in storage cases. The PC box collection doesn’t really match the theme but I don’t have any other options at the moment.
Looks great, I love the look of the wooden cabinet.
Some great new setups in here!
Below is my setup. There’s not much thought put into the layout other than the consoles being moved from my shed to under the tv over time. The n64, Xbox One and Wii U all connect via HDMI and the rest plug into the OSSC which is hidden behind the head of the ukulele. Annoyingly my TV has only 3 HDMI ports so there’s a bit of hot swapping going on but generally the N64, Xbox and OSSC are connected.
Since I did it slowly over time my wife hasn’t really had an issue with it ![]()
