The basement is not the optimal spot but it’s the spot I have. I live in a nearly century-old home, and space is tight. I actually have a nice back room for a family room but … the wife won’t go for all this up there. It’s actually a pretty clean dry basement. But I do need to find a way to put some kind of a black sheet over the top and the back to keep dust off the stack.
@Bozo_Cyborg The shelf is good. It’s not massively thick but it’s steel and seems to be very sturdy. Just used a rubber mallet to pop it all in place. Super easy. I noticed Mike Mika has the same ones in his office in a recent tweet! The 310 weighs about 190 pounds and seems safe and snug so far.
@Danexmurder Audio runs out of the TV and into a 2.1 PC stereo system. I’m still trying to dial it in. And the speakers are on the top shelf right now and angle up, which is not ideal. I plan to get a couple of slender stands (maybe just a pair of 4x4s) to lower them to just below the screen level.
@panopticblue The stick is really cool! I am not 100 percent sure but it seems microswitched and feels like an arcade joystick, mostly. I have another one that’s slightly different and I have one for the SNES, too. They are just so much better than the ones we got in the west (that I’m aware of).
Now I have to keep dialing in the sound, color and geometry…
After seeing listening to some of Bit Brigade’s versions of the Mega Man soundtrack, I recorded Air Man’s stage on to my loop pedal, straight from the Famicom!
I could then layer up the track on the 2nd channel with the old Gibson.
Tricky tunes to play, as I’m not much of a shredder.
Nice! A silver 27" D-Series always warms the heart. I logged so many hours on mine playing ps2 and og Xbox back in the day; wish I didn’t sell it for $20 or whatever when I finally upgraded to an HDTV in 2009.
