RULES
- Competitions last two weeks, and close @ midnight on the final day.
- Post screenshots in this thread as proof.
- The winner from the previous competition chooses the next game to play.
- You cannot choose twice in a row. 2nd place will choose if someone wins twice in a row.
- If there’s a tie, the person that submitted the high score first gets to choose.
- Games must be high score compatible (think “arcade style scores” like Pac-Man, or Spy Hunter, not Super Mario).
- Emulation is okay (MAME is often the best for high scores).
- No save state manipulation (pausing to take a break is fine though).
- Submit scores as soon as you get them! To keep the competition rolling and fair, do not hold on until the last moment to submit.
Points will be awarded for the entrants, based on the position finished. This is to encourage wider participation, and the points will be posted on the website after each battle is complete.

Overall, we should keep it simple. This is just a good time, not a crazy official high score competition! Game plays should ideally be short and fun so people that can’t invest hours into this can still compete. Obviously we are working on a trust based system here, so don’t ruin it for the others!

NEWS: RGB High Score Battles is back! I’m going to run this initial competition on the last game that was played, as we only had one entry for that one, and I think it would be a great starting point.
The stats page on the site has been updated, and will now generate automatically with the placements of the players on the main page. This should simplify things for me greatly, and allow for much faster updates.

My first attempt:
Those moving platforms in stage 2-1 are bullshit. Took 3 continues just to get across once… might be better to just time out to bypass them…
Well seems you cant bypass 2-1 without crossing the moving platforms.
I cant figure out how to get past this gap in stage 2-3 at all…
Am i missing something?

I’m going to have to emulate this one, as my Genesis is down right now.
This game is tough! Took me a while to figure out you can shoot diagonally, which helps a lot.

I keep wasting 5 to 7 lives trying to get past those blooming moving platforms…

@Suteneko are you playing on 50hz? I wonder how much different it feels.
No, I’m playing at 60hz.
The original controllers making it a bit harder i think as via emulation using a keyboard its relatively easy.
The slightest deviation from only left or right always kills me on the moving platforms on original hardware. Seems the moving platforms try to keep you on them so using up or down or/and diagonals results in instant push off death due to increased speed of input in those directions.
Tell tale sigh is moving ftom stationary pkatform to moving is easy and same from moving to stationary but moving to moving is a nightmare.
If you let your character on the moving platform go all the way to the top or botton you will notice you get pushed to the other edge of the moving platform and any input at that time pushes you off the edge.
Need some more entries for this one, c’mon people try it out!
I’d suggest advertising in the Discord server because that’s where all the regulars are.
I’ll be posting something later today. I killed the original incarnation of the High Score Battle by picking this game, so…..

The electrified floor part stumped me until I realized I could use the smart bomb to reset it. Unfortunately the electrified fence part in the later stages is even bigger AIDS!

Looks like I’ve got my work cut out for me! I know I can do better than 190k.. but thats going to be tough to beat.
Battle closes in 10 hours, I’ll be spending some time on this tonight after the kiddos are in bed.
Okay I’m getting better.. I could def do more than this, but there’s only an hour left and I need sleep. Good luck to anyone that’s still attempting!
