Even factoring in buyee/tenso’s fees, shipping, duty, and DHL’s obscene duty processing fees, all in I only paid around $110 CAD for this immaculate thing.
Toshiba “Infinia” 17 inch monitor. I believe the LCD panel on the front needs specific software - it blinks for a sec when I plug in the USB. I’m not sure what it is used for.
Monitor looks good, not mint but pretty nice for 25 years old! Display is great and has a ton of size and geometry adjustments available. The speakers work and sound very nice! I think it’s a pretty cute little set and fits better for me than a “regular looking” CRT PC monitor.
I need to do some MiSTer tweaking for VGA. Would love to be super versatile with consoles and arcades and maybe that 486 core that looks like fun to mess with.
My pick up finally arrived today! The first thing I did was update the firmware, which was actually very simple. I decided to test it out on the Saturn first, but ended up troubleshooting and updating the firmware of my Satiator as well, haha. But it seems great so far, and I love the scanline options. They look great! I have a CRT but it’s much smaller so it’s great to have options. Jaguar, PC Engine and PS2 are next on my list to try out, hopefully tomorrow or Thursday.
I’ve almost ordered one of these about five times in the last couple weeks (had a big number birthday recently) and I still have the OG RetroTink-2x that I have really loved using. I feel like this is enough of an upgrade…
Yeah, I’ve talked myself out of it so many times, because I already have an OSSC. But I’ve been following Mike Chi on Twitter and all the new scanlines he added looked so nice, something that the OSSC doesn’t offer, unfortunately. Also, just the ease of use and simplicity is great. Then when I watched the My Life In Gaming review again, it sent me over the edge and I ordered it. It helped that they actually had it in stock, unlike many other things.
Right. The big selling point for me with the original was that it was so plug and play. I love that!
I will probably go ahead and get one. It seems like this is a good spot to jump in as I’m not sure what he could add that he hasn’t that wouldn’t be doable with firmware updates now.
The original has issues, minor ones… but it’s not at all what this is. Congrats on the buy! I’ll probably be joining you!
Enjoy! Tye Framemeister still has a few plus points over the Retrotink x5 Pro such as having HDMI in and can be used as a pass through. It can also mix and match audio from a different video signal. Very handy for system like Neo Geo or arcades that have mono audio via RGB but get their stereo audio via a separate output.
It seems like the Retro Tink is maybe easier and more straightforward/streamlined option wise in getting one’s preferred settings such as scanlines? At least that was my takeaway from your video. The Framemeister’s menus and number of options are kind of daunting for me at times.
I ordered a Core Grafx II and an Avenue Pad 6 on Tuesday from Japan, which was delivered last night. I was surprised it arrived so fast. The seller only charged me $8 shipping for expedited shipping which seems like a bargain!
I connected it to my SDS3 and Retrotink 5X and everything has been working great! I’ve always wanted to an Avenue Pad 6, and first impressions are that its waaay better than the standard PC Engine pads. D pad seems much better, and having the auto fire switches are great for shmups. Although I didn’t realize it was switched on while I was playing Keith Courage, and I couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t jumping high enough, haha.
The seller also threw in Space Harrier and Fantasy Zone HuCards.
Any suggestions on what PC Engine games to play? I played Air Zonk, Keith Courage, and Cotton Fantastic Night Dreams yesterday and today. I was thinking maybe Ys Book I & II? Although I know it’s been ported to a lot of other systems, maybe that’s better played on something else?
