A few DS games (including Lode Runner inside the DS!) and Zangeki no Reginleiv on Wii. Not pictured but recent pickups: PS VR stuff.
Powerful Golf is really good!
Can’t believe how nice the screen is. Incredible.
Yes, I also have an IPS modded advance and it’s CRAZY how good the screen is
… definitely recommend it!
First new Silver box Castlevania game in… 31 years? (Belmont’s Revenge and PAL Castlevania IV were the last ones in 1991)
Extended Castlevania Silver box family (missing Castlevania IV… really need to get that again…)
Will add it to the NES set
That is a thing of beauty. Very jealous.
Gorgeous frame ups. I love them all, especially that Orta which I didn’t know even existed
Thank you! The Orta poster was bought off eBay back when the game was first released. It had been knocking around my closet in a cheap plastic Ikea frame since then, until properly framed and hung. It wasn’t cheap, especially since I got museum glass, which is one of the reasons it was put off for 15+ years.
I have a few other posters I should take pictures of, which still aren’t framed. I just don’t have the wall space for them. Bayonetta, Boktai, Viewtiful Joe and a few others.
Yes I can imagine. My first two frame ups my dad paid for a few years ago (BTTF movie poster and TMNT NES poster) but I recently got a TMNT movie poster done and paid just over $500 for it including taxes. Was worth it for my though
Those silver spines sure are classy!
Got the collector’s edition, physical re-release of Mega Man The Wily Wars from Castlemania Games and Retro-Bit, this is a beautiful collector’s set. Also have my original Mega Drive copy which I imported over 20 years ago pictured next to it.
Picked up three new handhelds at good prices, just couldn’t resist them really.
Wine red DSi XL: Perfect match with wooden furniture!
Metallic blue DSi: Posted about it in the DS thread but this really is a huge improvement over the launch window matte black DSi I have. The metallic finish is a lot nicer on the hands, while also holding up better where there are signs of use. The screens are better, with as much responsiveness as a DSi XL and much better viewing angles. And the D-Pad is significantly better, and practically identical to the DSi XL one.
Blue and white PSP-3000: Picked this one out of both desire and necessity. PSP license activation has become unreliable via PS3, so I no longer want to mess around with license switching on my existing 3000 to play my European games. Having a second handheld permanently on “Europe” fixes that. But other than that, it’s just such a beautiful revision. It’s actually a three-tone design, since the metal band around the outside is a different hue of blue than the back plate.
Another ‘games with their years later follow up’ thing.
Double Dragon I, II, III and IV.
But wait a minute, there was already a fourth official Double Dragon, by the original team, Return. The US publisher even named the next game Double Dragon V…
Oh well, here’s Double Dragon I, II, III, IV and IV.
Larger family photo. The Mark III version was ported (mostly based on the Famicom port) by Arc System Works, who now own the franchise and developed IV.
Poor Technōs Japan ![]()
Nice, II and Return/Super remain absolute high marks for the franchise. Wish they’d go back and revist Super rather than dipping into the 8 Bit but still happy to see the franchise alive and kicking in some capacity.
Gorgeous collection.
Yeah I love Return. If they’d just finished it properly it would have been a GOAT. It has a great aesthetic, great music, great animation and a fantastic grappling combat design. It’s just missing that last few months of dev for better set pieces, scene transitions, story elements, and I assume it was meant to be 60fps.
So yeah I think II remains the pinnacle, NES/Famicom perfection. The PCE port is pretty nice too.
That’s a great looking PSP! At first glance I thought it was modded. I didn’t know that color combo was OEM. It was such a great handheld.
The wine DSi XL looks great too! I have one as well. It’s such an odd color for a device these days, it should live in wood paneled room with shag carpet, lol.
Any yellowing on the DSi XL screens?
All those DSi XLs have funky colors like that. It’s the coffee table console.
Well, unless you got the Mario one like I did…
Me neither, didn’t realise Japan got that colour combination until last month, and I knew I had to have it! Crucially it looks great under any lighting condition, which is an improvement over the glitzier metallic carnival colours which became the standard for the 3000. Really nice.
Nope, all good! This is actually my second wine red in as many weeks, had to return the first one because the polished lid was really scratched up. Both haven’t had any yellowing though which is good.
Dark brown is probably my favourite DSi colour overall - it goes well with wooden furniture and it’s a bit more discrete than the wine red.
The final DSi LL colours made an appearance in late Konami DS game Powerful Golf!
