Even in 1997 there was still a lot of cheap and nasty games coming out for it.
In a way it’s quite interesting to see what is out there.

Plenty of ace pick ups in the last few weeks. Am glad Taito Arcade Memories Vol. 2 was recently reissued so I didn’t have to pay an outrageous amount for it.
Egret II can take cartridges?
They’re SD card expansions, the SD card slot is also used for upgrading the firmware (if only they’d release a firmware update to add a scan line option which is my only complaint about the device):
Huh, I assume hackers could do wahetever with that? But cool to have an actual ‘cart’.
You’d think. Unfortunately unless I’m missing something, it doesn’t seem like any of the available Egret II Mini homebrew hacks have scan line options. Still a great device though.
Picked up Rave Racer on Switch 2. Man, what an incredibly entertaining arcade game. I was just feeding “quarters” to try and improve my Hi Score and Caravan times. Pretty happy with where they ended up. Only really made a run at Novice and Intermediate tracks so far.
I really like the Caravan implementation. That five minutes is very difficult to go flawless within! I believe 7.12 was my best. 2:25 is where I ended in Hi Score tonight. Manual for that last one. Automatic for the first.
It’s a bit pricey at $18 after tax, but I already got two hours out of it. ![]()
I picked up Rave Racer too but on the series X. I’m actually quite disappointed in the music. I’m sure I remember the Arcade original having a pumping soundtrack similar to the original.
Nice Thunder Force V Special pack. I hope you have the music CD that came with it ![]()
Nice! It’s good to see a quality complete copy of a Japanese Saturn game.
Damn that’s insane for a vintage game… do these things ever have big discounts?
I remember playing it in the arcade and being confused how the home game was different. I played the Rage Racer demo on the disc that came with my PS1 a lot though.
