speechless

Just so much lovely detail in this game. Nice pics - sotn has aged so nicely.

Played some Rondo of Blood on Wii earlier. Should invest in a modded PCE, those games look gorgeous in RGB.

Can confirm. Looks super awesome on original hardware. I did a 100% run of this game last year.

How about some Star Fox 64?

I’ve replayed this game more than probably any other in existence. It really does hold up beautifully on original hardware.

Somehow, bizarrely, this game has not been topped in the rail-shooter genre. Unless I missed a title that is better along the way. Sure, games like REZ, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Star Fox Zero come close, but the controls of SF64 were just so simple and tight. Of all the ones I’ve played, REZ is maybe the closest, but the scoring system just isn’t quite as satisfying.

I still have to check out Panzer Dragoon Zweii though.

If I ever choose to quit my day job and make a video game, it would be a rail shooter. I just feel like the genre is capable of so much more. Especially in virtual reality. We need a really fun VR rail shooter!!!

Sin & Punishment?

That’s a very good candidate… I love that game but it’s a much more clumsy game to control.

The seperation of character movement and crosshair aiming like a standard FPS make it far less clumsy than having both on one stick imho.

Yea I could see that. Sin and Punishment is an excellent title.

I see that as much of an evolution of Wild Guns on SNES as it is a rail shooter like Star Fox. It just doesn’t have the freedom of flight quite like other games in the rail shooter genre since you’re playing on the ground most of the time.

I think, for me, also moving the crosshair is just a bit on the slow side so I never feel 100% in control of that game like I do SF64. So that’s why I find it clumsy in comparison.

It’s a 10/10 title though. I own the original cart complete in box and it’s one of my most prized gaming possessions.

That’s the funny thing about S&P 2, you get that freedom of flight but then the game actively discourages it buy giving you points whenever you touch the ground!

Yeah, I would rank S&P above Star Fox 64. Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Space Harrier, too. Atari Star Wars arcade is pretty awesome, too, but isn’t quite the same unless played on a real arcade machine.

Certainly not saying it competes to the likes of Starfox, but I really enjoyed playing through Deadly Tide back in 1996.

It was a microsoft game, and took place entirely under water. Crazy story, crazy good pre-rendered graphics.

edit: OH! And there was a previous game made by the same company called The Hive. Also pretty cool!

Ninja Master’s is not a very discussed game outside the NeoGeo community. It sure is pretty though.

Tried out the copy of Yoshi’s Story I recently got (inspired by this thread), and what a gorgeous game. I love the little angry look Yoshi gives the camera lol.

3DS: 240p and with scanlines due to the 800 x 240 via parallax barrier in 2D mode! Checks out.

Here’s some shots from Paper Mario: Sticker Star, which has been a rather beautiful game so far with its convincing representation of materials and excellent stereoscopic 3D creating a tangible looking world.

I remember playing Chrono Trigger DS on my 3DS XL and being surprised at how the faux scanlines made it look really close to the original.

Got a new arcade monitor for my Neo25 cab. Toshiba tube and Nanao MS8-25 chassis. It looks gorgeous. Thought I’d share some pics.
