480i with flicker correct?
Nope, 480p.
You couldn’t get 480i on a VGA monitor without an upscaler to at least progressive scan/480p. They generally don’t do interlaced as far as I know.
Staying at a bed and breakfast that has CRTs in the rooms. They stream their tv through Roku but use it on composite on a CRT.
Honestly, it’s surprisingly vivid and you can’t see as much 480i flicker on these low res consumer sets. It’s a Zenith too which is what I had growing up.
I actually use a composite Roku on my big gaming CRT - I love watching 4:3 shows and movies on there through Plex.
How’s that weird Mega Man show?
No idea. Didn’t really watch it.
Wow, this looks amazing!
Looks awesome. That’s not 480i, is it?
No, 240p!
The more I see, the more I’m convinced that a less sharp CRT with less distinct scanlines is the best way to play 240p content. This looks excellent.
Is that Dreamcast or arcade?
I have a DC VGA setup for a 31khz monitor that looks good, but I do think I prefer your look.
What setup do you have for that?
Consumer sets rejoice!
Yeah I’ve always thought of arcade monitors as the height of CRT gaming.
I appreciate every tube tv, from professional broadcast screens to old RF wooden cabinet TVs, but this look is what I remember as wishing I always had at home.
Yea arcade monitors can be great if they’re in good condition.
Great shots, and welcome!
Looks great! Are you using an ossc?
