Man I wish I could get GBI to work on my Cube. Never could get it going. The console won’t read the action reply disc. Tried a little alcohol on the lens and it didn’t solve the issue. I might start a thread here sometime to host a conversation about it and see if y’all can help my dumb ass to get it working.
If you’ve got a copy of Wind Waker and a Wii with GC ports it might be worth trying the save game exploit instead.
Ah yes this post reminded me to check raphnet. Looks like they finally have the adapter back in stock
Yeah - I waited for some time to get it. I’d also recommend the GC to N64 adapter if you’re that way inclined. Mario 64 with a Wavebird is a revelation.
TMNT: Tournament Fighters on NES. One of the last games produced by Konami in 1993 for 8bit Nintendo. Never released in Japan. Dots in the picture was caused by Everdrive N8 (some roms have that tendency)
Setup: LG StudioWorks 563n VGA CRT Monitor 31kHz (dot-trio shadow mask), XRGB2 Plus up-scan converter & AV Famicom NESRGB modded.
Such an interesting game! I think it looks pretty amazing for the hardware. Excellent attempt to bring a 16-bit fighter to an 8-bit system. It doesn’t play particularly well but it is such an interesting piece from that point time.
Following my misadventures installing a NESRGB kit in my AV Famicom I decided to do a burn in test of sorts and cycle through a few games over an hour or so just to make sure there were no niggling issues.
All shots on a PVM20L2 via RGB.
Looks great!
That’s high praise coming from you! - I was dreading speckles or other corrupted graphics that I’ve seen people wrangle with but the output is rock solid.
Aw heck, I’m no pro, I’m very much learning as I go just like everyone else! Seriously though, I think there’s something really special about NES RGB. It’s just so vibrant. I actually love the way composite looks too but that is more for nostalgia purposes.
Food for thought, after completing mine I noticed that I was still getting some rolling interference in my picture. Just sort of a barely noticable fuzzy blob that would scroll from top to bottom periodically. A nice new Triad power supply cleared it right up. So if you run into anything like that clean up your power!
I totally agree - pictures don’t do it justice the image looks incredible on a CRT. I should add that I had a HiDefNes prior to this and there’s no comparison, the NESRGB looks so much better.
I left it running for nearly two hours and was watching (and listening) for interference but it will be easier to evaluate it once my N8 Pro arrives and I can use 240p test suite.
It was fairly obvious on mine. If you aren’t noticing it right out of the gate you are probably good!
NESRGB is so good. /chef’s kiss
If it only worked on Contra and Castlevania to eliminate the shimmer it would still be worth it.
Speaking of NES RGB here are a couple of Shots of Fami Contra running on mine. These are on the Wavebeam palette. BVM-14F5U. One shot on PVM-2030. Please pardon the glare.
Beautiful.
That reminds me I need to download the Micro Mages rom I got from the racial justice bundle!
Awesome shots folks.
Also that micro mages games art looks amazing. Can’t believe people can squeeze such good visuals out of a NES still.
There is some incredible programming in that cart. I think the whole game is like 40KB.
How did you downscale the PS2 to 240p?
