Sega Dreamcast |OT| It's Still Thinking

I meant the name:

:joy:

I would celebrate the DC birthday if the goddamn thing didn’t break all the time.

What issue are you having? I’m still rocking a launch DC and a final run DC. The only issue I’ve ever had is the F1 fuse going on the controller board which I just took out of the equation entirely.

The latest problem is the ā€œslow bootā€ issue, Where the DC logo comes out really slow, the menu is slow as well and most of the time the games won’t load. Looking for possible solutions on the web were inconclusive.

I’m taking my sweet time to buy another one since I can’t find a good deal on it (and a working Neo Geo CDZ comes first on the priority list).

I’ve never owned a DC but I’m in the market, is there anything I need to be on the lookout for?, ideally I want an NTSC console that I can install a GDEMU into.

I was having fun playing a couple rounds with SC till I saw a flash outside the window and had to go unplugging everything.

@#$%ing weather!

Semi-related:

I had that with a modern game, blackout occurred in a storm.

Pulled the Switch off the dock and kept playing. Was a minor wow moment.

Surge protector and a UPS!

I can’t say I’ve experienced that one. It almost sounds like something is failing in the machine?

Good luck finding a CDZ! I bought a single speed Neo CD. I couldn’t justify the price of the CDZ given I probably won’t duplicate too much of my Neo library. I have Viewpoint, FF3 and I had to get Crossed Swords II. That one will probably forever be locked onto that hardware.

this sucks. my last roommate fucked up mine when my cat jumped near a cable, a friend helped install another disc drive but the pots aren’t properly lined up so games like giga wang won’t finish loading. ughhhhh

Goodbye old Dreamcast.

Hello new Dreamcast! (DreamPSU, GDEMU, Noctua Fan mod)

I highly recommend the Noctua fan mod if you have a VA1 or VA2 DC. It turns your Dreamcast into ā€œIs it on?ā€ quiet. $35 well spent!

35 is a lot for a fan though! Pico is expensive for a PSU too.

$15 for the fan, $20 for the mount. Yeah, not necessarily cheap but it is a huge upgrade. It’s whisper quiet now.

As a PC guy, Noctua fans are the absolute best you can buy, no doubt. Worth the money.

Anyone know how to force games to 240p? The way MvC2 look in 480i bothers me…

Does it support 240p? I haven’t found a definitive list, but I haven’t seen it on any of the lists. Street Fighter III:TS is hold start and L. You could try that I guess.

That’s a Naomi game, a native 480p game. There is no 240p mode.

I would love to see MvC2 patched to replace the backgrounds with a selection of recycled 2D ones. The presentation of that game really irritates me.

CvS2 also. The 240p designed characters on top of the 480p backgrounds is a little off-putting at first
