I finally got my hands on the PowKiddy X18. Been looking forward to this one.
The original Paperboy was a classic but the follow up is a whole different story. But hey, at least you can now play as a girl.
Nice, I was waiting for this one. You could do Chuck Rock as well, and it had a lot of ports with the Amiga version being the original.
Yep, Chuck Rock will be done.
There was once a British developer known as Core Design. They started life on the Amiga before hitting the big time with Tomb Raider. Sadly they were bought by a soulless conglomerate and are no more. But before the days of Tomb Raider they did make many original games. Once such game being Chuck Rock.
Nice, I’m glad you did this one. I’m also surprised it got a sequel starring his baby son, and it’s strange that it never came to SNES.
After making the last Pocket-Go video I wrote off to BittBoy explaining that most people were not happy about the screen refresh rate and tearing. Well guess what? They might actually address this issue.
In this video I show you their response, more emulations testing and some of the ported Linux games running on the Pocket-Go.
Last week we took a look at Chuck Rock. A game many disliked. This week we have the squeal, Son of Chuck. A game many people seem to like. Let’s check it out.
Technology is amazing isn’t it? When I was a kid we had small LCD games and a cheap Walkman to entertain us. Now we have so many choices. But, have you ever wanted to take that living room experience with you when camping? Well, now you can! Well, as long as you are travelling by car.
Wanna take a look around a Japanese electronic store&s games department then head on up to the Taito Station arcade? You bet you do.
Chuck Rock was already a PC Gengin clone and that sequel is even more explicit lol.
Here we go with a review of the LDK. In this video I show you just what you can expect from the stock firmware and how good the emulation actually is. Many different emulators shown from NES to obscure stuff such as the NEC PC-98 and yes, PlayStation as well.
We finally reach the end of the Chuck Rock series with BC Racers. A series that started of with a mediocre platformer then improved and what could arguably said ended in a poor racer. But which platform has the best version of this racer? Let’s watch on.
I never knew that BC Racers was part of the Chuck Rock series. huh.
Yep and a sad end to the series
A good game this week on Battle of the Ports as we take a look at Konami’s Jackal.
Also, you may have missed the last Life in Japan video
Nice! I love Jackal.
The NES version is the only version worth playing, let’s just be honest here…
The US NES version is like a whole separate game from the FDS original, a complete remix. Both are worth it, it’s like an expansion.
All those other horrible PC ports by bedroom coders… weird how Konami allowed that stuff, I guess it was more wild west back then.
I like the arcade version.
It was exciting to find out about the cartridge vs disk differences in NES/FC games. It has added replayability for me to several games.
Not too many have vast differences, the most common is the changed audio due to not having the FDS extra channel, or save features.
This is likely the biggest change between a FDS release and cart, and the game was renamed anyway (Final Command: Red Fortress vs Special Force Jackal for the arcade in Japan ) so isn’t actually the same game, I presume they were planning to release the cart version in Japan originally in some form as a ‘sequel’? Since the NES version took on the Japanese name (unlike the US arcade release as ‘Top Gunner’)
Yeah, most don’t have vast differences like Jackal but it’s still neat, like with Kaettekita Mario Bros. having physics changes from the original, and then those changes ended up in a later PAL cart version of Mario Bros. not released in NA.
