Hi everyone, I was looking into a screen replacement mod for my classic Game Boy.
Which one do you recommend, based on quality and how easy is to install?
Also, which EU store do you think is best for buying the parts?
Oh yeah of course, never picked up any NES Classics, probably because Animal Crossing on GC had most of the games! I’m guessing they are all grey carts? Wonder if the Famicom Mini carts reflect the FDS or cart colours.
Looks cool but I’ll probably just stick with my OG GBC screen since it’s plenty sharp already IMO

Hnngh 36 colour options. 11% bigger screen. This thing is going to burn through batteries on the Pocket…but it looks so good.

I literally 2 days ago just ordered the V3 IPS screen for my DMG. Oh well.
Always hard with these things/enthusiast products. There always seems to be a newer, better, revision. Right up until the point that there isn’t and the last of the older stock is now gone. It’s a world that both punishes and promotes fomo.
I’m sure you will be happy with the one you got, and if you aren’t who knows, there could be v5 of this one by the time you feel like getting something new.

This is so true, you either feel like you’ve won or been burned, it’s happened to me with these new GBA screens. Now V2, whens V3 coming…
Yeah its why I said oh well. lol. The V3 ones still look great but man I would love that grid effect.
Well, that was the quickest insta purchase I’ve done in a while.
There any news about how pocket power assumption is with it? would be interested if it meant flashcarts were more stable with the pocket.
Still waiting for a GBC screen with more accurate colors (at least as an option). Just not a fan of the oversaturated look.

Yeah, the inaccurate colours bother me, these new GBA IPS screens especially.

I don’t believe there is a screen out yet for the Color/Advance IPS screens with grid lines. I expect it to happen though.
Worth watching this vid as it goes into some of the issues of the screen and also has a battery life test. The screen gets real dim when using an everdrive, a battery mod of sorts seems essential for the pocket
The pixel artefacts he shows are kind of annoying but I don’t mind the streaks during screen transitions not sure if these things have upgradeable firmware.
