I think so. I haven’t used a Game Gear in a long time but the impression I get is the Game Gear display had non square pixels outputting its native resolution.

Edit: Yeah, non square pixels on the original Game Gear. Since Sega only used off the shelf parts for the Micro they used a screen with the same aspect ratio but square pixels and a higher resolution.

Be careful about using one of these in anger - pocket lint gets stuck around the sides of the display. Probably best as a desk toy then!

Shame they didn’t consider making this aspect more practical, I’ve grown rather attached to them despite their ergonomic deficiencies and sticky buttons.
