Interview: Kenta Cho (Paku Paku, Noiz2sa, Tumiki Fighters, rRootage)

I recently interviewed Kenta Cho (ABA Games) a Japanese indie game developer who has been doing it for over 30 years and whose game Paku Paku “1D Pac-Man” went viral at the start of the year.

You might also know him from such games as Noiz2sa, Tumiki Fighters, rRootage, Gunroar, Torus Trooper, one of the 50 games he made in 2014, or one of the 139 games he made in 2021.

He talks about his early experiences with computers, the golden age of arcade games, his first published game (which I managed to find, and is now digitised), his top 5 video games, and his philosophy of game design and development.

This is the first in a series of interviews I’ll be releasing this year.

Thanks so much!

I enjoyed this. It felt like an Iwata Asks or a long lost translated interview from shmupulations.
