There was a bigger selection of PC Engine systems (and one PC-FX) playable at Play Expo last weekend, to my surprise.
Had a lot of fun playing Psycho Chaser and Kishin Douji Zenki FX: Vajura Fight in particular. Psycho Chaser gave you a fun repertoire of weapons to switch between and waves of enemies to make you think, while the latter, despite its simplistic fighting mechanics, looked really impressive. Would probably be better in co-op.
PC Engine Mini coming soon! Anyone else looking forward to plugging it in, maybe jailbreaking it, exclaiming “this is neat” before unplugging it forever and going back to original hardware? This ritual that I repeat with every mini console is getting pretty expensive.
Technically this one is a cheap source of a large number of legal roms, could rip from it and put on an everdrive/burn a disc to play on the real thing.
I want one of these pretty bad, but I don’t know if I will bother, due to it being so large. I was really hoping the TG16 version would be roughly the same width as the Genesis Mini
Yeah, going from Konami’s website (the JPN one), only PC Engine Mini orders before 5 March will be fulfilled on launch day.
CoreGrafx, TG16, extra controllers, multitaps etc. all delayed until after launch. PC Engine Mini orders after 5 March also delayed until after launch.
I’m worried now, my card keeps getting declined on first payment attempts from Amazon Japan, so my pre-order for the PCE Mini may get cancelled because of that, even though I pre-ordered before March 5.
Unfortunately Amazon has exclusive distribution rights to the entire lineup. So I guess our only other options are resellers after launch on Yahoo Auctions etc etc…
I guess you could use amazon japan to ship to a forwarding service still?
My guess is TO is focused on the MODE stuff. Maybe once that ships and things start getting produced in China at a more normal rate you’ll see it come back.
