I tell you one thing though. I’m never buying from Watermelon Games again. Their customer service is total shite. Lack of communication is never good.
I thought about buying this any number of times back when they were taking orders. Kinda glad I didn’t. I’m guessing it’ll end up on Steam/PC eventually if not current consoles. Too much money to be made there once they satisfy the retro crowd.
I wouldn’t buy this on a more powerful system. To me it isn’t the game but the fact a game like this is pushing the Mega Drive. Seeing it on steam or xbox is just, well meh. Nothing special.
I agree with this. I don’t think I would buy the same game not on the genesis since I think part of the appeal of this is that it works in those limitations. There is so much more that you could have done that isn’t bound by those limitations that I would rather see if you were in fact not bound by those limitations.
But I am also perfectly fine waiting years for a product as long as I get it, so I am also not mad about the delay/shitty customer service. As long as I get it. If this gets to me I’m fine buying more watermelon games. In fact as long as they keep making games I enjoy I’m fine with them never responding to emails/offering customer service as I’d rather good games over good customer service.
Package received. Not filled with rocks, same good/unique watermelon packaging. Something to point out is that the tracking number I got never worked and I was checking it daily.
The included note inside each box is pretty funny on multiple levels.
Wow that was quick! Glad to hear it.
My copy only left the US on the 15th so I still have a week to wait I’d say
Let me just be clear that I think the actual game is fine but the fact it doesn’t work on three different consoles and that I waited years upon years for it only to find this out leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.
This really sucks
I was reminded of something funny by the need to open up the cart and fix it; my copy of Pier Solar from all those years ago was delivered without screws. Had to email back and forth where at first they wanted me to send back the entire game before agreeing to just send me a couple of screws. I had not thought about this in years. Amusing to see some things haven’t changed.
Also as a side note, seems the “classic” version came in the good clam shell case, and the “limited” ones are those cardboard packaging. This is also normal for watermelon games as I believe the same was true for Pier Solar, where the first harder to get editions were cardboard and the later reprints/rereleases were clam shell.
This is exactly why I ordered the classic - that plus I wanted it to match my other WM games (Pier Solar, Sacred Lines, Papi Commando) that I only have clamshells for.
God, I could just feel your disappointment dude. Sorry this wasn’t a good experience for you.
Glad you made this video. I was very on-the-fence about grabbing this game, but I am going to pass. I understand video game development is hard, but this just doesn’t rise to the level of acceptable. It’s one thing to have a small audio glitch, but such varied behavior on different units, especially original hardware, just isn’t worth the gamble.
They patched Paprium support on mega sg:
How’s about that for timing!
Right? I like how someone else had to step in to fix Fonzi’s (mean and intentional?) oversight.
sigh
The saga continues. Can’t wait till we find out that that metal shield that was removed actually keeps all the text in it’s proper place.
Could I still buy this game from the creator or was it pre-orders only?
