Paprium party is live, yo

I think I just got the regular edition but also used all my gems so I paid $50-something.

I can’t seem to find an email with my order though, just a link to the order on their website (which is down) so I’m relying on my memory here.

Oh I guess I could check PayPal…

Same here, found it on my Paypal app. It was a few days before that email.

I got all my orders with them sorted in their own file all the way back to Pier Solar stuff so I can easily check, I just really don’t want to even look right now since I’m pretty sure I did the stick and a collector’s edition. Like I was/am okay with the long delay and really thought it would eventually come out as I’ve gotten other stuff from them in the same way.

Have been cautious with online orders for unknown stuff from unproven companies and have yet to be burned by anything on kickstarter but nope, something from a company that has made good stuff in the past is the one to take the money and run.

Now think about all the people who backed Project N (The SNES one) and are now completely forgotten.

Ah yep I found it… $52.70

Less than I have tied up with Elysian Shadows Kickstarter lol.

Oof I just took a look and Im out 99usd and I’m not happy about it.

Ouch, sorry to anyone burned by this. I’d be pissed on principle, regardless of the amount of money involved. Any chance of getting your CC company involved and invoking fraud protection?

@Socksfelloff Oof :persevere:

Mine’s too old for PayPal protection, but I have no idea how far back Visa would allow me to claim.

I noticed in the PayPal invoice though that they don’t actually state what they’re selling you, they just put a reference to the order number. Shady?

I’ll wait it out and see what comes of this. Has there been any statement since the " release" party ?

People have been talking about it again because magicalgamefactory.com is offline. The status given by whois was clientHold, which ICANN says is “an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes, non-payment, or when your domain is subject to deletion.” So everyone is freaking out. The domain went offline yesterday I believe, and the registrar expired a week ago.

“Waiting it out” is the only thing you can do now, since you can’t get a refund directly and it’s too late to have Paypal or Visa involved. There has been no communication at all since the party. Fonzie has given several interviews at the party but none have been put online.

Which is another reason why people are assuming the worst. Since if you were going to take the money and run the best way is to look like work is coming along till it is so long after you took payment that there is no chance of an easy dispute. Shitsux.

This is why the retro game market and resellers annoy me. I couldnt help but pre order it after passing on pier solar but then looking at what copies go for.

Seems like http://magicalgamefactory.com/ is up

That’s… hopeful I guess?

Part 1 documentary on Paprium - has a bunch of members from Watermelon being interviewed

This is bad. When you’re interviewing the co founder of a studio about what went wrong I’m pretty confident it’s never coming out.

great documentary, but - wow - how did even pier solar get released?

Yeah, it’s not looking good. How the fuck do you work on something as collaborative as a game and not want to share work, that Fonzie guy does not come off as good person.

The roller coaster continues:

Artist who worked on the game says he’s played the game and that the cart is in production…

It never ends! Will I ever get a copy? I won’t take a bet on it, but it’s good to read there appears to be some progress. I really wonder if the game is in a better shape than what they played at their stupid party. I suspect not, considering there still isn’t any final and official footage.
