Project Robot (gen ATLAS)

So I’m hyped about “Project Robot”.

I loved Fumito Ueda’s previous games:

  • ICO
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • The Last Guardian

But what kind of name is “gen ATLAS”?

Still feels like a code name to me.

One fun thing I know about the Japanese names its that they all kind of riff on numbers.

  1. ico
  2. nico (during development, essentially “2nd ico”)
  3. trico (the name of the animal, “3rd ico”)

So with this in mind I wondered, if they kept going with that numerical pun system, what would the 4th game be called?

  1. yonco (“4th ico”)

My best attempt at a full name:

  • 機械仕掛けの巨神 ヨンコ
  • Kikai Jiki no Kyoshin Yonco
  • Clockwork Colossus, Yonco
  • Mechanical Titan, Yonco

Not sure what the Westernised title would be. Something more dreamy?

  • The Sleeping Sky

Anybody else overthinking this quite as much as me?

Haha maybe getting into it too much. It’s been a long time, he left Sony 15 years ago, surely the continuity wouldn’t be there?

I still haven’t played The Last Guardian… bought a PS3 to play it then never got a PS4…But yeah loved the first two.

I had the same experience with the Last Guardian. I bought my PS3 for MGS4 and The Last Guardian specifically. Then TLG never released on PS3 and when I finally got the chance to play some PS4 games well after that gen finished, I never got around to it.

I really should though since I loved/love Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
