RGB High Score Battle! - Week 47 & 48: Kung Fu

Site is updated! Here’s our current week details:

WEEK 47 & 48
Game: Kung Fu
Platform(s): NES
Challenge Type: High Score
Game Details: Full Game, Game A
When: Aug 3rd - Aug 16th, 2020
Chosen By: raskulous

I’ve updated the website with the new game, let’s get kicking!

Good luck everyone, please submit your scores via screenshot or video by replying directly to this post!

  1. Competitions last two weeks, close on Sunday night @ midnight.
  2. Post screenshots in this thread as proof.
  3. The winner from the previous week chooses the next game to play.
  4. You cannot choose twice in a row. 2nd place will choose if someone wins two weeks in a row.
  5. If there’s a tie, the person that submitted the high score first gets to choose.
  6. Games must be high score compatible (think “arcade style scores” like Pac-Man, or Spy Hunter, not Super Mario).
  7. Emulation is okay (MAME is often the best for high scores).
  8. No save state manipulation (pausing to take a break is fine though).
  9. Submit scores as soon as you get them! To keep the competition rolling and fair, do not hold on until the last moment to submit.

Points will be awarded for the entrants, based on the position finished for the week. This is to encourage wider participation, and the points will be posted each week as well as on the website.

1st: 10 points
2nd: 7 points
3rd: 5 points
4th: 3 points
5th: 2 points
Any honest attempt: 1 point

Overall, we should keep it simple. This is just a good time, not a crazy official high score competition! Game plays should ideally be short and fun so people that can’t invest hours into this can still compete. Obviously we are working on a trust based system here, so don’t ruin it for the others!

Here’s a simple website I made to keep track of the competition.

Okay first attempt for me. Tough game, and I can definitely see that you can just score cheese and stand in one spot and kill enemies, no doing that! :stuck_out_tongue:

Will have to fire this up on the CRT later and try it out.

Since @DaveLong isn’t going to challenge me at Galaga, imma need to break out the NES or Nes classic tonight and give ya a run on this.

Imma get ya on the Galagas. I haven’t had a chance. Is Kung-Fu on Switch NES Online?

Nope :frowning:

Last day tomorrow guys, get some scores in!

That damn L3 boss. I keep getting to him with low health and can’t dodge his damn kicks.

Edit. Level 4 moths or w/e they are suppossed to be, are the reason why I dreaded this game as a child.

I just noticed the L4 wizard’s energy isn’t going down. its been a while

Ok so…apparently you play from level 1 after you beat Mr X. I went around twice! The knives that the blue/white enemies throw seem to move a bit faster and the enemies come out in more difficult patterns. Also the lower enemies attack you while you are fighting the bosses. The third playthrough felt a bit harder than the second.

Wow, nice scores!

Such a good game! thanks for choosing this one! Fired it up on the CRT and NES!

Played the shit outta this one when I was a kid in the arcade and NES. The NES is a pretty faithful translation, all of the patterns are the same.

Gaaaaaahhhh, I thought I won for sure. :weary:

That may have been my fault, lol!

I reminded a few friends that last night would be the last day. :stuck_out_tongue:

@MikeRotch what game would you like to play next?

I choo choo choose BATTLETOADS!!!

NES version.

You’re dead to me now.

Lol, I didn’t expect those low-effort gamer friends of mine to win!

They’re both in their 40s!

It took me almost 2 hours to get that good! Us >40 folks don’t have that kind of time to waste.

I’m only a year and a half from 50! WTF?!

We old bro.
