RGB Pick Up Thread Of Swag!

Super excited to play the arcade port of Sega Rally Championship 1995 coming from the game and its Plus variant on Saturn!

I’ll give Sega Rally 2006 a go although I’m not particularly excited about the idea of a grindy career mode progression.

Also: Wii games!

More goodies from Japan! Also got an amazing deal on a bunch of Nintendo Powers. Issues 37-177 for $60! Can’t beat that. (Looking for 1-36 if anyone’s selling)

I have dupes of four early issues: Track & Field, Duck Tales, Tetris and Star Trek.

I love that Mario’s Super Picross box art. I dont really collect boxes but that one is worth displaying, had to have it a few years ago.

Super-jealous of those CPS2 boards! Worth reading up about what to do if they “suicide”.

Mentioned at 7m omwards in this recent video:

Super informative! I’ve actually been installing Undamned Infinikeys in all of my CPS2s to prevent them from ever suiciding in the future. I just pulled out a battery that still worked that was apparently from 2001.

More from Japan today! Still have a few more boxes coming this week. I ordered this stuff so long ago it’s like a little surprise every day lol.

Kid Dracula is such a good one to have in your collection. I’ve always loved that life force cart too.

Biggest one yet

My grail console, red famicom twin, finally arrived. This thing is just so damn cool. I want to RGB mod it,but part of me wants to keep it authentic with composite. I’m surprised how good composite looks (minus the jailbars) it’s exactly how I remember my nes games looking. If I mod it,it’ll be very hard to play in my setup due to the short controllers. I could always use the expansion port for a longer cable.

Big congrats!! It’s beautiful.

I have a red Twin too and it’s my favorite system. I had the same thought as you too - should I RGB mod it?? But I left it and agree that the composite looks good and authentic to my memory (which is actually better than the RF I played on as a kid).

That game stack looks awesome. I modded a NES controller to stick into the side but prefer playing up close with the shorties

Enjoy!!!

Yeah me too,its such a novel feeling popping those colorful carts in and grabbing the controller from the back. I played it more yesterday than I did my RGB Nes w/Everdrive in months.

Composite from both my NES and my Famicom AV just feels right. I have an NESRGB board, but haven’t had the heart to ask someone to mod either system.

I have an N64 that has been RGB modded and I love it. All my other systems use their inherent lossless connections too. But the NES just feels different to me because of the subjectivity of the color palette when converting to RGB. I’d rather keep it stock than attempt to reconcile that.

You can use a 4-way switch and keep composite intact. That’s what I did. I can switch between 3 RGB color palettes or just put it in the 4th position and use the composite out for video. You get the best of both worlds that way!

If you do decide that you want one modded let me know.

The ‘original’ palette seriously looks exactly like composite (just sharper) when comparing directly, same CRT screen RGB on one system and composite on another. I test with Contra and Castlevania usually.

What has screwed me up is improved looks so much better with much better distinction between colours that all official emulation (Switch, NES Mini etc) now looks gritty and dull compared to the beautiful bright improved from my RGB Famicom!

I’ve been slacking on my posting. I don’t think this is everything in the last couple months but it’s a start… I also bought Sega Ages Virtua Racing last week.

Prices were right in line with ebay or a little below. The Game Boy will get an unboxed pic when I have more time. It came with Tetris and the stryrofoam is all intact. Box is immaculate.

Shadowrun does not have the manual. World of Illusion does though and it’s also in super condition.

Cart-wise, the Elemental Master was $60 which is the current average. There’s a slight tear on the label but this was the first one I’ve seen in awhile that looked this good. Granada too is in excellent shape. Contra has a little edge scuff on the label, but still nice.

My Genesis collection is my favorite by far I think so adding these games makes me very happy. I may try to track down boxes/manuals over time but I wanted them to play now.

Love that Game Boy box. I’ve been tempted several times to replace the childhood one I lost, but haven’t found quite the right deal yet.

Was thumbing through some old gaming magazines I bought a few weeks ago and fell on this beauty from the July 2008 Nintendo Power:

Gaming mags were great, I have many fond memories of them!

Damn that’s a clean copy of World of Illusion. All these years and still not any less jealous of your pick ups when you post them.

‪Picked up a Sharp Twin Famicom from a good friend. I don’t know what I love more, the incredible hardware aesthetic, the box or the fact the disk drive had a sturdy new belt installed. Now to get some cheap disc games! First up: Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa and Otocky.
