I caved and bought an NIB VMU. I’m having too much fun with my DC and I’m running out of space quickly!
Probably the biggest Retro Core gaming pick-ups ever with 18 games, loads of mini consoles and a strange computer terminal thing.
Games for the PS4, Xbox One, Game Cube, PlayStation 2, PlayStation and Xbox 360 included. Quite a variety.
Great news this week. I’ll be officially out of a job in a month, so for the time being I’ll have a lot of excess time to tinker. I’ve bought up a load of handhelds with major/minor issues from japan and will be refurbishing/fixing/upgrading as required to both pass the time and have a little income on the side during the uncertain times ahead. Anyone with any potential interest or request can PM me.
Sorry to hear about this, sounds great that you’ll be keeping yourself busy in the meantime, do update us on the work you’ve been doing! Do you plan on fixing any Virtual Boys and Game Gears?
Digital pickups:
- Chulip (PS2 Classics on PS3, kudos to Natsume for releasing this!!!)
- Neo Contra (PS2 Classics on PS3)
- Fate/Extra (RIP imageepoch)
Boxed games:
These two arrived late, ended up getting Mr Driller digitally. Namcot Collection I’m excited about, there’s a few Famicom Namcot games I really want to try, starting with Star Luster and Dragon Spirit, and I think the next collection of games is out in August.
Despite the low price of around 2300 yen, Namco didn’t cheap out and printed inside cover art!
Excellent choices there. It’ll probably be a few years before I dive into the switch. Mr driller was a favourite on the Dreamcast for a while.
Current console batch on the way includes 3ds’s, psp (1000-3000), Gameboy pockets, GB color. Game gears seem to become rarer by the day, and I haven’t seen a virtual boy listed or otherwise in a decade. I can try to keep an eye out for gamegear, but they are few and far between. Could do a refurbish and modern LCD mod, but I’m wondering if there is enough demand to justify the price of time, labor, and material cost of the systems, shipping, and mod components.
Really sorry to hear that. Please do update us in the BST area with stuff you’re selling or services you’re offering. I always prefer buying from a fellow RGB member.
Thanks! I’ve been waiting for these two for weeks, Namcot Collection especially as the Famicom is one system I’ve been meaning to spend more time with this year.
The Switch’s Mr Driller Encore is a port of the GameCube title, but it’s definitely the best Mr Driller out there, sort of a culmination of everything up to that point. Definitely pick it up when you can, it’s really good stuff.
New PCB day is best day. Got The Simpsons a couple of days back, game passed all RAM ROM tests but red wouldn’t display properly. So I gave I a thorough cleaning yesterday, and looks great now.
Awesome!
Nice. Do you think it was just corrosion on the jamma edge?
Nope JAMMA edge connector is in decent shape. I actually read about a Simpsons board having the same issue, turns out dirty connectors on the EEPROM chips make that happen. Weird but I’m glad I rescued this board for cheap and that it wasn’t an expensive fix.
Tokyo Bus Guide 2 for the PS2, published by Success Corp.
The first game on PS2 was a Dreamcast port, and I can’t remember whether it used the analogue buttons or not. I never put the time in to become good at it though - hoping this new one is a bit more approachable so I can graduate to the first!
Good job. Let me ask you a question: what is your opinion on using a hose to wash arcade monitors and/or chassis?
I feel like people are split on that guidance. I’ve got some dirty ones but I’m a little afraid to soak them
Will echo @Peltz and say I’d be interested to know about your handhelds or services on offer.
I’ve used regular running water and soap to clean MVS cart PCBs and that works wonders provided you actually dry them up well. I’ve had some carts that had faulty sound or graphics that only needed a good cleaning.
For PCBs with batteries and / or capacitors I wouldn’t use that method, for those I do a thorough cleanup with cotton q tips and isopropyl alcohol and compressed air. Works wonders.
It should have because the Dreamcast original did. I loved playing that game. There’s also an arcade version.
