RGB Pick Up Thread Of Swag!

A friend gifted me a TV on Saturday. It’s a JVC AV-27D500. I’m hoping to have it SCART modified next year.

It looks pretty neat! What is that? S-Video?

It’s PS2 via component (Although the TV does have S-Video). I wanted to try another system but I don’t have enough cables at the moment. As far as I can tell the component doesn’t have audio in so modifying the TV for SCART is almost essential. This TV has 700 lines Horizontal Resolution and the 32" model has 800 lines Horizontal Resolution so it makes it a good alternative for those who can’t find a PVM/BVM locally.

Here’s a link to the specs:

It has to have an audio input. I wouldn’t go through the hassle of the rgb mod since you have component.

While not retro is has a benefit of playing some retro Xbox games and games from last gen.

Uhh, beautiful. Is the actual Scorpio XBonks designed to look like the original XBox? Or is just the packaging?

Xbox One X here too!

Looks great in those photos. I think I’ll grab one eventually.

I doubled checked the inputs and you are correct. I thought there were three inputs but there are only two.

Input 1 is composite
Input 2 is S-Video or Component

The component and S-Video use the same audio inputs. There are RCA inputs right below the Component inputs but they are for audio out only.

Here’s a YouTube video I found while researching the JVC D series you might find useful.

It seems people really want a high end Xbox. I’m trying to see if there is anything I’m supposed to do with my games as far as settings. I need to get a copy of gears 4 but since it’s crossbuy I’m hoping someone has a deal on a code soon. Bought rise of the tomb raider and I’m waiting for the black Friday deal for AC origins.

Damn seeing all this pics of the XB1X is making me jealous. I really want one.:neutral_face::neutral_face::neutral_face::neutral_face::neutral_face::neutral_face::neutral_face:

DO IT. You know you want to. I’ll probably play a metric ton of Battlefront 2 when it launches next week.

Posted in the Neo thread, but this is my Retro pickup recently. A few other things I’ll snap shots of soon…

Finally I don’t need to pull out a scart plug behind the TV each time I want to play various consoles!

Nice @ResidentDante! I have the EXACT same switch. Though I have two daisy chained, hehe. Had to import from Germany on eBay to get them in Canada though.

I did notice some slight signal degradation through them, but only on my Famicom/SNES SCART cable. It manifests in an ever so perceptible checkered pattern, only noticeable on certain colours (vibrant reds mainly). It doesn’t appear when I plug the systems direct into my Framemeister though.

Not sure if it’s the cable not playing nice with the switcher, or the switcher itself, since my 4 other consoles hooked up via SCART all look perfect.

That is damn pretty.

Very odd… Since every other console looks fine, I would’ve pointed my finger at the cable immediately, but then you say it works just fine when connected to Mini, bypassing the switcher. I wonder what’s the problem, there.

I have two - not daisy chained, I prefer to swap the RGB cable - and the only degradation I can see are the jailbars on my Mega Drive 2, which I know for sure don’t depend on the switcher itself.

That said, I still plan to get a gscartw lite, eventually.
