The official Retro Core / Battle of the Ports thread

So sorry for the delay in getting this one out. It should have been released last week but real life is just too busy these days.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this one. The original Double Dragon Battle of the Ports featured 16 versions. This video features 20 but is actually missing the Game Gear and Xbox 360 Double Dragon Neon as I felt neither of those should be included.
If I could have gotten the mobile phone ports working there would have been 22 versions. Oh well.

I love Brook products. They’re lag free and extremely reliable. So it comes as no surprise I’ve got another item from them.

All new Pandora clone but is it any good?

A game I had a lot of fun with back in the early 90s.

It’s time to take a look at the all new follow up to the mighty RG350, this is the RG351

One of my favourite games of all time on this week’s Battle of the Ports.

Very controversial, but I think you sold it.

Even though this Divoom Timebox Evo was sent to me after reviewing the last Divoom item I bought, my views are completely unaffected. I truly do like this item. Great sound for the size and a very nice display.

Just wanted to chime and and say thank you for your continued work on the BOTP videos. The Outrun one came in super handy this week when I was deciding on a port to use for the high score battle.

Nice. Its great to know the shows can serve some purpose.

They do for me too. It’s great when shopping for old titles that hit more than one system. Fighting games especially.

New video up today.

The series may be a joke these days but at the beginning it truly was something special.

Great video as always!

One thing of note: The additional cars and tracks in the windows version are part of a re-release in 1996 called The Need for Speed: Special Edition. The original NFS was DOS only, and has the same cars and tracks as the PS1/Saturn versions.

@Yakumo I pretty much watch every video you put up and I’ve been going back through the catalog now and then throughout the pandemic. Even though I don’t always agree with your assessments, you do really good work putting these together. Thanks.

During the last video, many people asked about the Revo VS the DS Lite and if the Revo could play GB and GBC cart. Let’s take a look.
