The official Retro Core / Battle of the Ports thread

Just thought I’d share this. Seem to be based upon the original Razor design. Not bad for the price!.

Happy New year and welcome to the first BOTP for the new year.

Can this new system from PowKiddy running Retro Arch give Sega’s Astro City Mini a run for it’s money?

A special Battle of the Ports this week

New video up today. Crazy weather we are having. The likes of we haven’t had in about 15 years in this part of Japan. -6 on the day of filming so let’s go out and talk about how I ended up in Japan.

This is probably going to annoy the Sony fanboys but how about using the Elite 1 or 2 or series S /X controller on the PS4, PS5, Switch or PC?

FYI the Xbox controllers since the Xbone will work natively with windows PCs. You can either plug them in with USB, or Microsoft sells an adapter that works with the built in wireless on the controller.

Looks like it would bring some additional functions though, which could be cool.

The game that has been on more Sega compilations than any other, yes, it’s time for Battle of the Ports, Flicky.

I seriously had no idea Flicky was on so many systems, I mainly know about the Arcade and Sega Genesis versions.

Check out my Flicky blog!

There is also another Micronet port on FM-7. FM-7 : フリッキー - Old Game Database

I guess the sprite flicker in some versions wouldn’t be as noticeable on a CRT.

Really enjoyed the winter wonderland snow update. Thanks so much for that @Yakumo

Yep, I know about the FM7 port. I have that one but couldn’t get it to run. There’s a sharp MZ port too.

Glad you liked the winter snow video. That was a very cold day.

How much is the K101 Plus?

EDIT: I see it’s $70 according to Nintendo Life, but it looks like all links have expired? Been thinking about an IPS modded 001 for all things GB. These things intrigue me but at more than than half the cost of the OG hardware I’d probably rather do that.

The K101 has now vanished. The place where I got mine has also gone. Looks like Nintendo got them.

Time for a new hardware review and it’s a nice one this week.

How does the RS-97 compare? Looks very similar externally.

This is way better that the RS-97. This plays all the RS-97 does but this has the HDMI out, much bigger screen and more comfortable for those with larger hands.
The RS-97 is getting on a bit now.

Sorry, I meant the K101 and the RS97 look similar.

Hmm, I’d still go with this due to the large screen.

The Satinator, ODE for the Saturn is now available to the public.
Full Review and unboxing.
